Michelle Johnston was crowned Miss
Lucknow ,Fall Fair :Queen on Saturday
evening, during the annual concert .coor-
dinated .by the Lucknow Agricultural
Society. Michelle was sponsored by
Lucknow Legion Branch .309. Other con-
testants were Cindy Struthers, first run-
nerup, sponsored by Lucknow and
District Lions Club; Nancy Hunter, se-
cond runnerup, sponsored by the
Lucknow District Cooperative; Karen
Pickard, sponsored by the Lucknow •
Junior Women's Institute and Stacey
Bean, who represented the West Huron
Junior Fanners. Judges were Annetta
Bandura of Kincardine, Elaine Lippert of
Teeswater and Maureen McMullen Of
Kincardine.

Approximately SO party faithful turned
out for the annual meeting of the
Huron -Bruce Federal 'Liberal Associa-
tion, held in Lucknow on September 7.
Guest speaker for the evening was the
Honourable Brian Tobin, M.P. for
Humber -Port au Port St..Barhe. Born, in
1954, he -majored:in PEditicat Science at
Memorial University. Prior to ihis in-
volvement in politics he .worked as a
news reporter and annOOncer. For
two, years poor to his e1ectioii,to Parlia-
ment, Mr. ,Tobin :WAS the executive
assistant .,to :the Leder. -of Official
tpposition in the - Newf Provbi-

1980 re-elected In'1 988 and
is currently the Liberal Transport Critic
and Chairman :tof National Liberal
Caucus.

Mr. Tobin stated that he did not ifeel
that Free Trade debate was over; say-
ing that "the most important component
of the Free Trade debate wasn't put
before you or me, or the people of
Canada, in the last election" He called

Come to the fair
Organizers are busy making final
preparations for Luelmow's fall fair this
weekend.
As usual the weekend promises to
busy if you're interested in
., participating.
° Friday night the arena opens at 7:30.
Take advantage of the time to view the
exhibits, or enjoy the local entertain-
ment. If you really want to get involv-
ed try your hand at log sawing, bag ty-
ing or arm wrestling. The official open-
ing ceremonies take place at 8:30.
Saturday at 12 noon judging takes
place of bikes, trikes, doll carriages and
Children's wagons: Meet at C. E.
McTavish. The parade starts at 12:30
and will feature the Lucknow and Clin-
tim bands. •
Following the parade all feet will be
headed for the arena and fair grounds
where various events are planned. The
arena is open hum 1:30 to 4:30 view
the exhibits or watch the baby contest.
Outside you will find bale throwing,
lbale rolling, frog jumping, stilt walking,
tug-of-war, pedEd tractor pull, a midway
•and a light and heavy horse show.
Saturday evening a conceit and dance
is .planned, featuring the Miss Mid -
Western Ontario Pageant. Entertain-
ment is by Good Intention Productions
starting at .7:45 •pm. Miss Mid -Western
will be crowned .at 10 ,pm. and you
may dance •the night away to Woods

The Lucknow Scouting Association is
need of leaders and assistants for Cubs
and Scouts.
The organization has planned for their
apple day, bottle drive, winter camp,
Haliburton camp next August. Registra-
tion for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Ven-
turers is planned for Thursday,
September 21, in the town hall. Parents
meet at 7:30 with registration to follow.
If you're interested in helping out
with these young,people, simply attend
the meeting. You will be made most
welcome.
