Boys ,and girls are .going to school, many for the first time, while others have graduated to secondary school, college or university. Best wishes to all our students. Changes around Lucknow include the arrival of a new Royal home on the foundation at the north end of Havelock St. belonging to Steve and Brenda l3erry; Marilyn Carruthers and family have moved into the home formerly owned by Mrs. Hogan; the KArannenburg family have moved into the house the town bought, planning to demolish it for the new senior citizens apartment building; Mr. and Mrs. Glen England have moved from 395 Campbell St. and Brent Maize is going to live in the house formerly belonging to his grandfather. Ethel Rutherford has returned after 'a month holidaying with her son Hugh and Irene Rutherford in • the Sharbot Lake District north of Kingston. She thoroughly enjoyed her holidays. Plans have already been made for camps, ChriSttmas carol- ing, parades, pot luck suppers and skating parties. .1aiCknow Guiders includes five groups: Sparks -ages five, held an Mondays at the town hall, with leader, Sharon Weber; Guides, agemine to ,12,1teldiThursdays'at town hall, under leader Joan Chamney; *Brownies - age six to -nine, Tuesday -even- ings, at the town hall, with leader Anne Guay; Pathfinders - age 12 - 15, Wednesdays gats the town hall, with leader Wendy Berbert and Rangers - age 15 - 19, held -on biontly Thursdays, in gingham, under the leadership of Marian Baynard. Congratulations go out this week to Spence and Mildred Irwin who will be 60 years .married ' on September 11. They celebrated with an open house for fami- ly and friends at the home of their son Ross and Beatty Irwin on September 3. Gordon and Bernice Johnston have returned home after spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bloom at Hayter, Alberta. 'They travelled through the States going out and came back through Northern Ontario, calling in at the Double S Truck Stop at Richer, Manitoba operated by Leonard and Ar- thur Stanley. Congratulations to Cindy Stanley and Barry Smyth who were married in Walkerton United Church Saturday, September 2 with the reception in Lucknow. date for groups Sparks is a new group in guiding, and ,Lucknow is fortunate to have a leader for this young group. The purpose of the this new group for five year olds is to help them grow and to develop eating, respon- sible ways of living and thinking. Sparks will take part In a varied program of in- door and outdoor .,activities :such as arts and ,crafts, : games and songs. Registration for all of the groups is Thursday, .September 14, 7 - 8 p.m. downstairs at the Lucknow Town Hall. The fee will be in the $16 range.
