furniture refinishing
WV MIKE WIIXISCRAFT
Wait! Don't threw out mat dilapidated
rocking hair. Brian Donald clay be able
to help you.
Refinishing old„ broken furniture as op-
posed to discarding it in the trash is
becoming .a trend of late, says Donald,
who made his restoration hobby into a
business for one year.
"The trend seems to be that people
want to refinish their own furniture but
they don't have the know how," says
Donald.
"They don't want to dive in on grand-
ma's 150 year old rocking chair and
screw it up."
For those people who are in that situa-
tion, Donald will be offering lessons
which will begin in midSeptember.
The eight-week course will give the
students an understanding of the sanding,
stripping and refinishing.
"The program is designed to provide
them with the basics and enough eon-
fidence for them to get started on their
own," says Donald.
"When the classes are done they should
be able to go at anything they find at
any auetion, yard sale or in their base-
ment."
He adds that the structure of the
course is very flexible and, depending on
the student's demands, classes can be set
for either one or two nights per week,
with those sessions to be scheduled dur-
ing mid -week.
Donald says students will need "less
than $20" worth of supplies, rags, a
scraper and brush. All other refinishing
supplies, including a piece of furniture if
necessary, can be supplied, he says.
There is a fee for the course. For more
information call Donald, 529-3265.
