each application of paint. The glaze on
the plate Softens as it is heated, absorb-
ing a small amount of the colour each
time. As it cools, the paint is set per-
manently. Not having a kiln at their
disposal in the town hall, the ladies would
send their pieces home at the end of each
day with area women who have their
own kilns.
Mrs. Weibel, who has been coming to
Lucknow for the past ten years, finds
china painting -very rewarding, obtaining
a great deal of personal satisfaction. She
gives her pieces as gifts and sells them
at Show and Sales.
The Lucknow China Painters Group,
that sponsored the seminar, are always
interested in welcoming new members. If
you are interested ,in taking up this art
give Rhoda MacKenzie in Lucknow a
call, and as one lady put it, you'll find
out, "china painters are the nicest
people".
