Look out Goofy, here comes Megan
by Pat Livingston
Where does every young child dream of
going some day? To Disney World of
course! On September 7, Megan
Trachsel's dream will come true when,
along with her mom, Margaret MacPher-
son and Sandy Liddle, she will fly to
Disney World, thanks to the Sunshine
Foundation ,of Canada.
Six-year-old Megan of Point Clark,
formerly of Lueknow was bornwith spina
bifida. She is paralyzed from the navel
line down, and during the past six years
has undergone countless surgeries. The
most recent was in February, when dur-
ing an 8 112 hour operation, her kidneys
and bladder were reconnected. Megan's
bladder had shrunk and it was necessary
to reconstruct it using the large intestine
and'large colon. Megan' spent two .months
in the hospital at that .time and , despite
some complications, following the
surgery, her mother says she has im-
proved a great deal.

The week of August 14 saw 11 women
from Lucknow and area, London, Clinton
and the United States gather together in
Lucknow for a China Painting Seminar.
A professional china painter, with 21
years experience, Shirley :Weibel of
Southfield, Michigan was the teacher for
the five day seminar. She has taught

Help fight MD
The Lucknow Fire Fighters will be
giving their full attention to a fight of
a different kind this long weekend as
they stage their annual Muscular
Dystrophy Road Toll.
From 1 p.m. until dusk on Friday,
September 1, the local firemen will be
stopping traffic east of the village on
Highway 86 and asking for donations
towards MD. Last year, the crusade by
our firemen netted over $2,000 for the
cause.
If the weather fails to cooperate and
provides rain Friday, the men in the
big boots and black coats will switch
their plans to holiday Monday.
So don't be surprised if you get pull-
ed over this weekend and are asked to
pay the MD Road Toll...it's for a good
cause.

tanker truck?
In other news from the local Fire
Department this week - tenders are now

GMC 6000 vehicle boast an engine and
chasis in great shape as well as a 1,100
gallon tank. -
Town Works Foreman Gary Austin
says the truck is in excellent condition
and would be ideal for a farm vehicle
even without the tank. It has a five
speed transmission with a two speed ax-
le, a V-8 engine with 7,320 original
miles, and four good tires.
The vehicle can be seen at the
Lucknow Fire Hall with tenders being

In last week's paper, it was incorrect-
ly
ncorrectly stated that the crowning of Miss

As August 9 is history, we hope
