July 26 saw seven tables in play. High
lady, Helen Nicholson; low lady,
Dorothy Cuyler; high man, tie between
Tom Culbert and Stuart Chamney with
Tom Culbert winning. Low man, tie bet-
ween Jim .Errington and Thys Groen.

Land". 16 page Alocument was
released by the 'Catholic Bishops ,of On-
tario. 'This paper provides much food
for thought and reflection.
The document was produced to
stimulate .the urban people ,into inform-
ed solidarity with Ontario's rural com-
munities. The ,bishops address
themselves to :the human or -social
issues, then to the aconomic problems,
and -:fintdly, to the issue ..of ecological
balance. The ,document also includes
)some of the church's aocial teaching,
some recommendations, a ,conclusion
and a Biblical reflection. Here we have
briefly highlighted parts of "these
recommendations.
Ten Areas of 'Concern
Auld Recounnendalions
1. VISE liSE ,OFIAND -Me ask -for
an immediate -,-,canunitmeirt by -govern-
ment to limit. and restrict fdevelopment
,on,prime farm land in Ontario.
2. DEBT RESTRUCTURING - The
government of Ontario :should -establish
lending :mechanisms Tomplementing the
Federal Debt Be•viewBoard to -help with
the rearrangement of -debts for instil -
vent :farmers. The.loal should be to
help -keep Tinsolvent farmers ,on modest -
sized but viable farms.
3. A BEGINNING FARMER PRO -
:GRAM - -A beginning fanner needs the
,assurance of long-term credit at
reasonable interest rates as well as
-substantial interest rebates during the
first 'live to seven years. In justice,
these ,cannot be tied to production or
pa:at requirements.

recognize as legitimate all non-violent
collective measures by farmers to cor-
rect the present injustices of the socio-
econondc order and make true progress
in justice, peace and security.
