Mr. leirft hasais IbtatiOn about priin. 1 trees, hedges etc. He likes bat grow -- lug trees and 'shays 'plants stirtibs too close. Over the :years we have platted 'numerous shrubs around our domicile ,anii without fail as they years go by and the shrtbs increase in Size, Mr. Fitt says"I Shouldn't lave planted them so close„ . Oh sure, they look gorgeous .When they are small, but as time goes on, the foliage becomes so immense one bush fades into the next and so on. Years ago'ldr. Fixit built a huge deck, being sure that a good portion of it vas under a large tree 'on the property. I can reniernber him ,saying, "this will be ,one area for the sun worshippers and one area for those who like to stay in the shrtda:” It became increasingly ,dif- ficidt for a sun worshipper to catch any rays as the trees kept growing and shading the deck more and more. The drooping branches overhanging the deck made it necessary to bend yourself over to reach that sought after shade. A few Years sg%iny_tatior took itmon himself to prune the trees around the deck. Mr. Fixit was at the golf course and when he returned home 1 was sure he would have a seizure on the spot. Normally, a very calm person, he was unduly 'upset with the :Mining job my dad had done .anda few words were exchanged. In order to keep peace in the fan*, I 'refrained from asking my lather to do any future Tprunft. After a lot :of '`tweet talk", Mr. Fixit rmallypruned the trees In the deCk area. Pruning is no easy chore when the miner is forced to have her head stuck amongst the branches in order to obtain the desired results. My wee Irish temper got the better of me and 1 started in on the offending tree. Unfortimately Mr. Fix - it arrived on the scene before 1 could finish the job. While 1 had managed to remove some of the smaller limbs there were two larger ones I wanted removed and the tool 1 was using wasn't quite large'enough. Not knowing bow to use a chain saw, I cajoled Mr. Pixit into removing those two. 1 figured I was on a roll and proceeded to suggest that he remove two more limbs, explaining it would 'enhance the appearancr of the tree. 'No matter what I said, Mr. Fixit would not touch any more on that tree. Now I had watched carefully bow h had started the saw, thinking that perhaps I could manage to run that weapon when he wasn't around. I threatened him, "if you don't cut them off, I Be simply laughed and con- tinued walking away, Imaging darn well I wouldn't be able to start it. As I 'completed my task Of cleaning up the refuse, I was really ticked off. It an- noys use to think that the only thing I am .allowed "lime" without question is ;the grass. I wonder if I could maneuver a band saw wAll enough to get rid of those t wo limbs?? I mean M.r.
