"Fruit Basket Upset" around Lucknow
as residents were on the move.
Rod McDonaghs got moved into their
new Royal Home on Elgin St. Brian and
Kathy Knechtel and family moved into
the former McDonagh house.
Moving into the Knechtel home at 517
Havelock St. were Doug and Suzanne
Blake. We welcome them to Lucknow.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Evans of 540
Havelock St. exchanged houses with
Don McMurray of ,562 Hamilton St.
A two-and-one=half hour boat cruise on
the St. Claire River with lunch on the
boat was one of the highlights of the
Lucknow Women's Institute bus trip on
Wednesday, July 12th. They also toured
the Sarnia area and spend some time at
the Lambton Museum. The weather was
perfect and the committee in charge
would like to thank everyone for coming
and making it such an enjoyable day.
Congratulations to Wayne McDonagh
and Lynn Taylor who were married on
Saturday in the Lucknow Presbyterian
Church.
Bob, Marion and Matthew McComb of
Castleton spent a few days last week
with her parents Gordon and Bernice
Johnstone.
Visiting with Ted & Margaret Col-
lyer last week were Helen Verchimak of
'Fl robing, -A ich a. -r -- -f end- Gras__.
Mackenzie of Goderich, also Mary
Pinkney of Ajax. Mary spent the
weekend with her son and his family at
their cottage at Amberley Beach but
has returned to spend more time with
her sister.
Home for the weekend with his
mother, Edith Webster were George and
Anne Webster from Ottawa.
Flora Edna (MacDonald) Thompson
of Tillsonburg called on Jessie Johnston
recently.
Gordon and Bernice Johnstone attend-
ed the Sherwood-Twamley Reunion
which was held in the Belgrave Institute
Hall on Sunday.
Bruce and Barb Willits and girls and
Austin and Mildred Loree spent the
weekend camping with ten other
families of the Loree family at the
Valens Conservation Area east of
Cambridge.

The China Painters Class, composed
of Doreen Robb, Mildr =. Thompson,
Donnie Slater, Pearl McKay, Donelda
Moffat and Rhoda MacKenzie, held a
seminar for three days last week at the
home of Rhoda when they had Eunice
Cunningham of Sombra come to teach
them.
Betty Rowson of Toronto is visiting
this week with her sister Dorothy and
Bill Johnston.
Visitors on the weekend with Rhoda
MacKenzie were Marion Barrett and
Mr. and Mrs. Ray MacKenzie all of
Scarborough.
Intended for last week
Mrs. Gwendolyn Parker of Plattsville
retired from teaching at the end of the
school year. She was a former teacher
in Lucknow and in the Kinloss Central
School for several years. Attending one
of her retirement parties were her
sister Anna Mae and Vernon Hunter.
We welcome Rev. Dan and Annabelle
Armstrong to Lucknow as they have
moved into the house at 645 Havelock

Visitors last weekend with Rev.
Allison and Priscilla Ramsay were
their son Gordon of O'Leary, P.E.I.,
also their son Leigh, Frances, Jamie
and Sarah of Kensington P.E.I. This
weekend their daughter Shelia and Bob
Partridge and family of Newmarket
visited with her parents.
It is good to see Rev. Ramsay home
from the hospital and we wish him im-
proved health as he looks forward to his
retirement.
Marretta Hodgins from Niagara
visited for a few days with Irene
Hodgins and Lulu Stanley.
Vernon and 'Anna Mae Hunter spent a
weekend recently in St. Catharines with
their son Greg and 'Sandy.
Congratulations to Heather Hackett
and Jim Hockley •who were married in
Lucknow United Church on Saturday Ju-
ly 1.
Lulu Stanley, Connie Howald and
Kayla and Cathy Stanley attended •a
bridal shower for Cindy Stanley at the
Unit .f Church in Walkerton on Friday
evening.
Neil McLeod, his wife Kathy and eight
month old Scott from near Kenora
visited with 'his aunt, Evelyn Little last
week.
Sharon Bedford, Karlee and Ashley
visited Friday afternoon with Lulu
Stanley. Sharon is at a cottage at
Inverhuron.
Thirty-one members of the Elston and
Farrish families gathered at the home
of Grant and Lois Farrish on Sunday to
help celebrate their granddaughter
Emily's third birthday. Emily is the
daughter of Keith Elston and the late
Barbara (Farrish) Elston.
In last week's Wingham Advance -
Times there is an article telling about
the Barbara Elston Memorial award
which has been established by the staff
students, and parents of Walton and
Seaforth Public Schools. Barbara Elston
had been a teacher at Walton Public
School for eight years prior to her death
earlier this year. The award recognizes
sportsmanship in a Grade 8 boy and girl
and will be awarded annually.
A special touch at the recent Grade 8
banquet came when some of Mrs.
Elston's former students presented her
young daughters, Emily and Leanne,
with a book entitled "Memories: Your
Mother, Our Teacher" about the years
Mrs. Elston had spent at Walton school.
Sixty-two descendants of the late Mr.
and Mrs. John Bushell, Con. 14, held
their annual family reunion on Sunday,
July 9 at the Kinloss Community
Centre.
After all had enjoyed a most delicious
noon day meal, Mr. and Mrs. Herman
(Aisla Bushell) Fisher of Benmiller
were asked to come to the platform
where the preseniaton of a beautifid-
40th Anniversary quilt and anniversary
card containing the family names and
Patra money and good wishes from all.
The Fishers were so surprised but
grateful to all for everything
The afternoon was spent in visiting,
games for .all ages and races. Relatives
attended from Muskoka, New Hamburg,
Lucan, Toronto, Port Elgin, Benmiller,
Wingham, Dungannon, Kincardine and
several from our local area.
We extend our best wishes to Aisla
and Herman on this special occasion.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Elliott, Con. 10,
and Mrs. Marretta Hodgins . of Niagara
Falls were dinner guests on Thursday
with Mr. and Mrs. Tom McDonald here.

Mrs. Lorraine MacPherson returned
home after visiting in Hamilton with
relatives.
Mrs. Jean Hodgins of Wingham and
Mrs. Dorothy Anderson of Lucknow
visited on Tuesday with Edna and May
Boyle and all visited in the afternoon
with Mrs. Cora Thompson in her new
condo in Kincardine.
Mr. and Mrs. John Scott of Ripley
spent Saturday_ evening with Edna and
May Boyle.
The annual family picnic of the late
N.E. (Ted) Haldenby was held at Ber-
tha's home on Sunday July 16 with an
attendance of over 100 people.
Guests came from the surrounding
area and from Burlington, Mississauga,
Honey Harbour, London, Kitchener and
Schomberg. Everyone enjoyed a fun
day.
