Paul Laidlaw of Dorchester visited on
Saturday with his parents Mr. and Mrs.
Elroy Laidlaw and on Sunday Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Nannus and family of
Lambeth visited at the Laidlaws.
Mildred McClenaghen attended the
40th wedding anniversary •on Sunday of
Mr. and Mrs. Russel Jervis at Victoria
church in Clinton, and on Monday
Mildred attended the funeral in London
of Dr. Palmer at Calvary United
church. Dr. Palmer practiced in Wrox-
eter and Wingham during his stay in
the area.
A community shower was held on
Saturday afternoon June 24 in the
Whitechurch hall for Glena Wilkins,
whose wedding is August 12. A good at-
tendance was present with Kay Ross
and Kathy Wilkins in charge. A singa-
started the afternoon. Glena received
many useful gifts, including an iron,
ironing board, mixer and blender etc.
Glena thanked everyone and lunch was
served.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Chapman were
Sat. evening supper guests with Mr. and
Mrs. Russel Chapman.
Mr. and Mrs. Bradely Smith and baby
of Ottawa visited on the weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Russel Chapman.
Richard Day of Waterloo spent last
weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Torn- Day, Richard, along with friends
recently bad a holiday on the Trent
waterway.
Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs.
Tom Day were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Day
of Wingham and Mrs. 'Day's sister from
Edinburgh, Scotland.
Mr. and Mrs. Russel Chapman visited
recently with Kathy and Philip Blackler
and family of Russeldale.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gibson spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Fisher
in 4,* ton. Bill and Mary were
celebrating their 35th wedding anniver-
sary. Also attending was Joan Fisher of
Waterloo. Kathy and Joan remained and
came home Tuesday and visited with
Mrs. Carmen Machan of Brussels, and
with Mr. and Mrs. Vic Emerson at the
nursing home there.
Norma Falconer of Goderich visited
last week with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Wallace Milligan. On Sunday Mary
Lou Glover of Sarnia visited. She
travelled to Toronto to meet Mrs. Steve
Irwin and family of Lynton B.C.
A 'community shower was held on
Thursday evening in the Whitechurch
hall for Fay Irwin whose wedding is Ju-
ly 8. Jean Ross played piano music
while the ladies were gathering. The
ladies 'from the Division line area put
on a mock wedding which was very
humorous. Marilyn Jamison was M.C.
Karen Elliott had contests and then Fay
and her attendants took their places to
open the gifts. She received many lovely
gifts. Fay thanked everyone and lunch
and social time enjoyed by all.

The Whitechurch Green Thumbs held
their flieeting in the form of a bus trip
on June 17 to the Royal Botanical
Gardens and Dundurn castle in
Hamilton. They went to see a few dif-
ferent sights of landscaping. Everyone
from the club went and some other
visitors.
The fourth and fifth meetings were
June 19 at Betty Ross's. Members learn-
ed more about planting .and different
type of soiJ, tools to use and nutrients to
add.
Insects and diseases are a big pro-
blem for growing plants. Members
learned how to pilule and fertilize.
The sixth meet* was June 28. We
worked on our 'book covers and skits. It
was our last meeting for 1,andscaping.
We learned About flowers And our lawn.
