:Re: ,:Holyrood .Intersection
County Rd. 1 and Cotmty
ltd. 6 `(8tb Concession)
In the Wednesday June 21 ,issue of the
Kinloss township news the council said
there were no violations of zoning and
that parking is up to the county and
there is nothing wrong with the corners
housekeeping.
The :following are by-laws according
to the Resricted Area By-law sof the Cor-
poration of Township of Kinloss signed
by `Barry Johnstone, Reeve and Mr.
W.F. Hawthorne, Clerk.
15.1 The Holyrood General Store is zon-
.ed C2 - commercial :Hamlet - .general
store :.meaning a retail establishment
which deals primarily in goods required
by the residents of 'the immediate vicini-
ty to .meet their .day to -day household
and shopping needs.
6.23 (c) 'There shall be no .display
material visible -from a public street ex-
cept for one unlighted sign indicating
the name _and business of the occupant,
and not exceeding 2 sq. ft. in area.
(d) 'There shall be no outdoor storage of
goods or materials.
The barn and land which is being us-
ed for consignment auction sales is zone
- general agriculture.
5.2 Agriculture use means, the use of
land, buildings and structures for the
growing of field crops, berry crops, tree
crops, flower gardening, truck garden-
ing, nurseries, aviaries, apiaries, farm
for the grazing, .breeding, raising boar-
ding or training of livestock, the
breeding and raising of poultry, forestry
and reforestation, :including the sale of
such produce, crops, livestock or poultry
on .the same lot.
When the hall next door came up for
tender a couple of years ago we were
told it would make a great auction cen-
tre and tables with goods could be set
outside etc. We didn't want that to 'hap-
pen in a .hamlet .that was nice and clean
and we were „proud of.
Prior to :possession of the liolyroOd
Hall we were informed 'by council that
we didn't need to worry ..about :the hall
turning into an .auction centre for the
person or persons winning the ,:tender
would have . to apply for rezoning and

that .application for rezoning could be
objected to.
We are sure glad that we purchased
the Hall. Can you imagine if we had not
purchased the Hall what 'the surroun-
ding would be. We now °pay ;$50188 In
Hall taxes to try and keep the hamlet
beautiful.
However .all one 'needs to do is drive
through Holyrood and you will sense the
deterioration which has taken place in
the last two years.
When consignment and auction sales
began last year we drew- up a petition
which was signed by 13 neighbours ob-
jecting to the ,auctions because they
create a dangerous 'intersection. The
council sitting in 1988 said they would
get back to us, _.but we never heard of-
:fieiaily, :only Tumours.
4x18.3 In all zones, on a corner lot hav-
ing frontage on a county, provincial or
municipal, arterial road, 'no building or
structure shall be erected and no vehi-
cle shall be parked in such a manner to
_ ... • S .•.....➢ Above .. haigbt
of 20 inches above the centre line grade
of the intersecting streets in the
triangular area bounded by the street
lines. Distant 100 ft. from the point of
intersection of the said street lines.
Anyone coming from Ripley or
Teeswater on the days that auction
.sales are being held and several other
days as well knows that it :makes for a
dangerous intersection. You just can't
see your way clear until you ..are
almost halfway across the road. It was
observed at the first auction sale that a
child running from behind parked cars
was within inches of being struck by .a
vehicle travelling through our hamlet
Need we have more deaths in the Coun-
ty tof Bruce? is this what we want?
We thought: lyyllaws 'Isere written Ito
protect people from incidents :such utas
:that mentioned above and that our
elected council is here to .enforce them!
