our 89
Early one 'Tuesday morning not very
long ago 83 individuals all dressed in
crisp new navy and white uniforms met
at a school in a small Village in
southwestern Ontario. IVQ, it wasn't a
Ovate .school, or the products .of a new
fad in .the fashion industry, it was •the
Lucknow ,school conceit band setting off
on their annual band tour.
'TheAay started with confusion as the
bleary band members attempted to
get luggage on one bus and personnel
and instruments on two others. This ac-
complished we were off!
The first clay was packed ,withthree
conceits. We got off .to a roaring start
at Avon .Public School in Stratford, then
King Lear Public Sehool. Next we
travelled to 'Ingersoll- where we enter-
tained the students at Victoria 'Memorial
Public School.
The day had gone well, although
Popeye's friend Brutus was a little
worse for the wear, and we finally
made our way to Minden Manor :in Sim-
coe. The rain didn't :dampen spirits as
all were eager to try out the indoor pool
and other sports facilities.
First came supper at the neareir food
strip. Yes, McDonalds, Arbies, Burger
King etc. had the joy of welcoming 110
youngsters for supper Tuesday and
Wednesday night:
After a swim, game of table tennis, or
_even raquet bait evenrone retired to bed
after a long day. The new members
now having a true idea of what a day
on a Lucknow Band trip was really like.
The next day we were up 'early for a
buffet :breakfast at the motel then off to
Norwich Public School for a concert.
Students of all sizes in navy and white
invaded the Village for lunch. Our next
destination was Norwich s .ct High
School. Mr. C's alma meter. Although
the students were twice the size of some
of our band members it wasn't as
scarey as it sounds. The high school
was not very big and we received a
really good reception! The girl who
thanked ns for coming also com-
plimented us -on lour xmtlitt. Perhaps it
had -something to do with the fact that
she was wearing navy and white
stripes, rm.-not sure! That evening was
levely, dry enought for termis, and pro-
ceeded much the 'same as the previous
one.
