The reeve and councillors dealt with
several pieces of business at their May 9
meeting.
Lloyd Morrison, a Lucknow Agricultural
Socie'tyrepresenta'tive attended the meeting
to advise council that the society wished to
erecta .pole structure 32' x96' in Caledonia
Park. The deeds are now on file and coun-
cil had no objection, stating that Maitland
Valley Conservation Authority would have
to approve the project.
Jack Crozier, bylaw enforcement officer
commented on several problem areas in the
village.
Discussion followed on the parking bylaw
and new procedures were discussed. If,
after five days, parking tickets have not
been paid, the unpaid bills will be sent to the
county for action.
Rod McDonagh of McDonagh Insurance
was presentand explained the village's in-
surance coverage in detail. Council voted in
favor of renewing the insurance policy for
1989 with the Frank Cowan Company
Limited.
Mike Snobelen advised council he was in-
terested in purchasing. land from the village
and presented a written offer, on behalf of
Anderson Flax Products, for approximate-
ly 100' x 400' of the former CNR property,
at a price of .26 a square foot, with a clos-
ing date of June 29, 1989.
Council could see no problem with Mike

to the east of his building and gave him an
application to permit.
Gary Austin has beer appointed as weed
inspector for 1989 and Butch Foran was
hired to cut grass at a rate of $450 per hour.
His employment period will rule from June
1 to August 31, as required, under the super-
vision of the town foreman.
A donation of $250 was made to the Salva-
tion Army.
Council had received a letter from Linear -
dine Cable TV regarding service in
Lucknow. Council denied permission to Kin-
cardine Cable TV to do a test of CITY -TV
reception from the top of the standpipe.
Recreation
The hydro connection to the new lights at
the Kinsmen Park was discussed and it was
agreed that the costs of installation would
be part of thegrant allocation. The village
would then take over the line.
The price for the water tank for the new
fire truck is$18,600, plus tax and incidentals.
Council voted an additional $1100 be approv-
ed for the purchase, on condition that the
other- three- icipating -municipalities-
grant

As I - sit here, -on a Saturday afternoon I
might add, I .am searching my brain for
some type of technological advancement for
the darkroom. A machine that I could just
dump my film into and it would
automatically develop and print my pie -
tures to :perfection.
Who knows, the way things are going,
before I -retire perhaps such a machine will
he available.

While four public school trombone players
led .in the Root Beer Shuffle, Lucknow
School Concert Band members entered in
their sparkling new navy and white
uniforms for the 1969 concert. Music varied
frommarches, ,waltzes and rock.andrroll to
favorites such as 'Waltzing Matilda and
Glow Worm.
Sharon Askes rendered -a clarinet solo
while; Steve Bushell -and Seth McNall,played
-a trombone -duet Accompanist was JoAnne
Scott. Dale Priestapand Heather Steer -did
special dances.
Atthe end of ;the Public School Band sec
;tion, to show the talent of these young
players, Mr. Cayley'called out a sma 1
dance band group to;play an -extra number
whilethe others:leftthe stage.arid the Senior
Concert Band returned.
Twenty senior band members played
several selections in a newly formed Dance
Band while others danced with members of
the audience.
Meaghan Clarke and Sandy MacIntyre
presented flowers to Barb Gingrich, Ria
Middlekamp and ,King Meyer in apprecia-
tion for sewing tilt new uniforms. Band
Memories with NM rNlr.'C, a book with entries
from former band members for 20 years as
band leader wasrprsented to Gordon Cayley
by Heather Priestap and Craig Irwin. Prin-
cipal Bill Pike asked everyone to show their
appreciation for this long musical
leadership.
A standing 'ovation will carry the young
ambassadors of Lucknow and area on to
their annual Band Tour May 23'26.

Karen Fenton won the -Druce County On-
tario Women's Institute Scholarship. This
scholarship is;presented annually to.an.ap-
,plicant who has prodliced.a high standard
in 4-11 clubs, and ;wishes to continue :post-
secondary ,education. Xaren received a

the ;Bruce entre Women s -Institute
District Annual held in Underwood.

attend Guelph University in Consumer
Studies.

change, the Provincial LeadershiP Car"

in dairy competitions in Paisley and Tara

Karen participated in the Royal Winter
Fair Public Speaking.
Having completed 2.5 clubs, Karen has
gained her Count and Provincial,Ilonours
and thei8thand 24th ClubAmarda. She has
had considerable community .contact and
As Bruce County Dairy Princess enjoyed
several Speaking ropportunities in the, area.
Karen, -duri her 4-B Club experiences
has shown outstanding progress and
development and ;given excellent leader-
ship. She :has carried out club work of ,a
high calibre.
Figure skating has been one of her
