R.D.S. Holds Hillbilly Spirit Day by: Verna
M. Hainer
A bunch of jean or overall and plaid
shirted students and teachers is what you
would have found if you went to R.D.S. on
Thursday. The Student Council had planned
yet another spirit day. This was the "Hillbil-
ly" Spirit Day. There was a competition for
best dressed and a banner for the class with
the most people dressed in their hillbilly
clothes.
Along with the Spirit Day came a dance
wiliu osst peopieepjoy e 1 thoroughly
hope though that we could have longer
dances during these spirit days. If we only
have our usual length, we shall be pleased
too. Thanks to the Student Council and
music committee who organized our dance.

from both schools having been assigned an
area of Ripley, cleaned it up. Pitch -In Day
was held in many towns and cities in Ontario
during the past week. It made students
realize that litter should be picked up and
not left to dirty the streets. So the next time
you think of dropping your garbage, think
twice and keep it until you get home.
Thank you to the Ministry of the Environ-
ment who provided the garbage bags. Also,
thanks goes out to the students and teachers
who cleaned up Ripley.
On Friday, May 5, students from R.D.S.
and R.H.C.S. picked up garbage. All classes
