HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Lucknow Sentinel, 1989-05-03, Page 19Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, May 3, 1989—Page 19 Bruce presbytery meets in Walkerton The executive of Bruce Presbyterial United Church Women met at St. Paul's United Church, Walkerton on Monday, April 3. Twenty-one executive and 23 representatives from the local churches were present. Janet Field, president of Walkerton U.C.W., welcomed the meeting to her church. Laura Williams, president of Bruce Presbyterial welcomed everyone, especially new members, and conducted the worship - on God's creation. The minutes of two previous meetings were approved. The treasurer's report was given by Marion Derbecker. A thank you letter from the Salvation Army was read concerning the food items they had received from the Annual Meeting's Roll Call in Port Elgin. Time was spent arranging the following dates for executive meeting: May 15 at Pine River, September 25 at'6Tobermory Harbour, and November 13 at Harriston. A Retreat is being planned for June 22 at Silver Lake Camp. The following volunteered to attend Bruce Presbytery as delegates - Laura Williams, Marion Derbecker, Viola Adams, Joyce McEwan, Lilian McCallum, Sadie Fenton, Wilda Thompson, Kathleen Crawford and Joan Whytock. The Leadership Division Report was given by Judy Blue. A program on the Ecumenical Deca The Citizenship Division Report was given by Betty McCulloch. "Visiting" will be their program topic. The Stewardship Division Report was given by Margaret Ferguson, who hopes to use Sheldon and Ruth Wolfe as program speakers. The reports were seconded by Lilian McCallum. C1-111TOPPERS Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce is seeking the public's assistance in the investigation of a theft over $1,000 which occured in the Chatsworth area. The Owen Sound detachment of the On- tario Provincial Police report that sometime between 8 a.m. on November 21 and 1:30 p.m. on November 23, 1988, some unknown culprit(s) entered the storage yard of Carmichael's John Deere Dealer- ship, on Highway 6, .south of Chatsworth, Ont. The culprit(s) removed a Riding Lawn Tractor from its packing crate and removed it from the property. The use of some sort of vehicle would have had to be utilized to take the tractor away. The tractor is described as a 1988 John Deere Riding Lawn Tractor, green and yellow in color, Model 175, with a 14 h.p. engine. The tractor was valued at 94,200 at the time of the theft. The tractor has not been recovered as yet, nor has the identity of the .culprit(s) been learned. This is on United Church TV Space Network seen Monday nights on Vision TV at 7:30 p.m. and on the satellite dish ANIK D-2. Bruce MacLeod and Marti Tyndall are the hosts. The videos are available from Avel, a month at a time. It was an interesting video, and several were interested in ob- taining others. Laura Williams thanked the Walkerton U.C.W. The next meeting will be in Pine River United Church on May 15 at 10 a.m. The meeting closed with a recorded Easter message from the Moderator, Rev. Sang Chul Lee.
