Drainage loans
program continues
The allocation system for distributing
funds to municipalities under the Tile
Drainage Act Loan Program adopted last
year will be continued for 1 s ; 9-1990, On-
tario Minister of Agriculture and Food
Jack Riddell announced today.
The interest rate applied to debentures
purchased by the province under the pro-
gram will remain at eight percent.
"We expect this system to work even
more efficiently this year since farmers
and municipalities are familiar .with all
the details from last year," said Riddell.
Municipalities receive an initial budget
for tile loans based on their level of spen-
ding over the past three years. Ad-
justments to these allocations are made
throughout the year to reflect actual de-
mand for loans in each municipality.
Loans to any one individual may not ex-
ceed 75 percent of the cost of tile drainage
works, the amount requested by the
farmer or $20,000, whichever is less.
The following services are aido available:
• Standard and custom blended dry fertilizers
* 28% liquid nitrogen - liquid nitrogen applicators
* Micro nutrients
* All major farm chemicals
* Spreader rentals
