Peter John Martin, infant son of Peter, and Elsie Dykstra and Melissa Lynn infant daughter of Harry and Janice Van Diepenbeek were recently baptized. Con- gratulations to both families. A special Marion Hour or prayer in honour of Our Lady of Pochaiv conducted by the Father McCormack Council of the Knights of Columbus was held at St. Joseph's on Friday evening, April 21st. Our Lady of Pochaiv is one of the many titles .given to the Blessed Virgin' Mary with. this particular title being Polish 'Wednesday, -April 26th was Volunteer Day et Maitland Manor for the ladies of.St. Joseph's C.W.L. The Father McCormack Council of the Knights of Columbus held their regular monthly meeting in St. Joseph's Parish Hall with Grand Knight Neil Stepleton presiding on Tuesday evening April 16th. Jackie Van Osch and Murray Scott were married at St. Joseph's on Saturday, April 29th. A capacity crowd filled the Lucknow Community Centre for the evening reception. ST. JOSEPH'S: SCHOOL St. Joseph's. School continues to be very busy with many different activities. Winners atthe science fairheld.on-April 11th were : 1st Jane Brophy and Jennifer Tigert, .2nd Jason Brophy and Aaron Hackett; 3rd Tina Chilton in the In- termediate (7/8) Level. In the Grade 5/6 Division the winners were 1st Erin Hickey; 2nd Lisa Dykstra and Laura Miltonburg; 3rd Cory Sherratt. The Grade 3/4 winners were lst Amanda Hickey; 2nd Lori Dykstra; 3rd Patrick -Dalton. Finally in the K, 1 and 2 Division the winners were lst Bradley Hickey ; 2nd Jillian Robertson; 3rd .Meghan Martin. The students are all to be commended on their efforts as .are the teachers .for devoting the time necessary to achieve the quality of the work exhibited. As a result of their efforts Jane Brophy and Jennifer Tigert had the opportunity to progress to the regional level of competition. The Intermediate Girls Basketball teaazn came away with a third place pennant from the Huron -Perth Finals held at Bt. Ambrose School in Stratford. Congratula- tions to team members`Khn Wilson,:.Dawn Wilson, Amy Olson, Tammy Hogan, Lori Nicholson, Heidi Martin and Joyelle Foran and coach Sandy. McQuillan. The week of April 24 to28.was 'Education Week. On Monday, April 24th a Canadian poet, George Swede visited the school. This was in conjunction with the Artists in the School Program and thepoet spent his time in the school reading and discussing his poetry. On Tuesday, the ,25th.liaren Scott -Booth • from the Stratford Art Gallery spent the day working -with the Grade .5/6 class. Music teacher Mora Murphy worked hard with the students and the classroom teachers. Grades 3-6 were presented with the "Kids on the Block" program on Thursday. On Friday afternoon the Grade 7/8 class hosted a euchre party open to the community. inners were Eileen Wilson for ladies' .high, Father Ed Dentinger, men's high, Betty Lou Dalton, ladies' low and Ray Dalton, men's low. For the students, Heidi Martin was .high scorer while Aaron Hackett won the prize for low score. A draw was won by Eileen Wilson, for the adults and Dawn Wilson for the students. The afternoon was greatly enjoyed by guests and students alike. Education Week was enjoyed by both students and the community. Book committee wants suggestions The Committee looking after the new Ripley Huron Legion book has three members on it - Bill McCreath, Don McLay and Cameron MacAuley. Anything to discuss or suggest they will do 'S'o. Here at home, on Monday and Wednesday are nurse Ruby Bonnett of Kinloss and Ab Wylds. We will take down suggestions.
