Orkun Tosun of Istanbul, Turkey who has
'been a senior Grade •Student in the Kincar-
dine District High School moved to Ripley
last Sunday to live with Mrs. Carol Fludder,
Tammy and Jason. From there he Will con-
tinue to use the school bus for classes.
New Ripley book
"The 12 CROSSES' is the name of the new
soft covered book for this area. In charge
are these members of the Ripley Huron
Legion: Bill McCreath, Donald McLay and
Cameron MacAuley.
At noon hour on a cold windy Wednesday,
April 5 Ab Wylds and nurse Ruby Bonnett
each listed the names on the crosses at the
Ripley Cemetery. These were checked at
home here. The list went to Cameron
MacAuley. He did a further check and con-
firmed these.
Tammy in hospital
From last Wednesday on through the
week Tammy Fludder was a patient in Kin-
cardine hospital with high temperature due
to a strep throat infection. She was home
Saturday night but not well.
Visiting in Mitchell
On Sunday Bob and Ruby Bonnett, Donna
Heather and Julie were doing Sunday
visiting in Mitchell with Mrs. Jean Spence
(Glenn Martins) sister 'and with Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Winter and Kevin and
Youngs

Congratulations to Jim and Sharon
(Alton) Nivins on the birth of their first
child, David James Kenneth, born April 4,
1989 weighing 9lbs. 1 oz. First grandson for
Alex and Beatrice Nivins and Ken and
Ruth Alton.
In honour of Tom and Margaret Young's
40th wedding anniversary - brothers and
sisters of Tom entertained at a family din-
ner in Seaforth on Saturday, April 15th.
Following dinner, the party assembled at
Amy Wiggins for an old-fashioned visit. On
Sunday, April 16th, the actual date,
daughter Linda and Don Culbert entertain-
ed the immediate family. They presented
their parents with a microwave oven.
Congratulations to Anne and Colin
Chisholm on the birth of their first child,
Scott John Leonard, born on Apr. 13, 1989
in Clinton Public Hospital weighing 10 lbs.
Scott is the fourth grandchild for John and
Frances Narejko of Brantford and the fifth
grandchild for Leonard and Olive
Chisholm of Dungannon.
Winners at the Dungannon Seniors
Wednesday night card party were high
lady, Caroline Menary; low lady, Donna
Powell; ,high man, Raymond Haggitt, low
man, Gerald Wagner. Door prize went to
Deloris Culbert and Charlie Johnston.
Simon Schroeder of Abbottsford, B.C. is
visiting with his daughter, Elsie and Roger
Pannabecker.
Hazel Webster was guest of honour -on
Saturday at .a surprise 86th birthday tea at
Maitland Manor, Goderich when 25
relatives and friends attended. The sitting
room was gaily decorated with balloons,
and a beautiful ozalea plant aced the tea
table.
Roberta Linskill on the piano and Ernest
Durnin on the harmonica .provided toe tap-
ping music with a- sing song completing a
very happy occasion.

Pastoral Charge
Service was held in Dungannon with
Rev. R.J. Roberts.
The parish Explorers will meet next
Wednesday, April 26 at 7 pin. in the
Dungannon Church.
Anyone wanting their lawn raked or car
washed, please contact any Explorer
leader. This is to help with the :girls' fund
raising.
Dungannon Children's Choir will be sing-
ing ,on Mothers' Day. Choir practise is at 7
Thursdayevenings.
The sacrament of baptism will be
celebrated ,on+s' Day, May 14.

The Ripley and • District Horticultural
Society met at the Legion Hall in Ripley at
1:30 p.m. Ammelia Curnining was hostess
replacing Marie Farrell due to illness.
A large group of ladies attended
to hear the subject "Men of the Trees"
shown by Edith Smith on a video tape as
well as information from local newspapers.
It showed the world over what acid rain is
doing to -our livelihood.
Dorothy Brook thanked all taking part.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Lizzie Geddes
and Mrs. Mary Jean Cumming.

students employment centre
The Canada Employment Centre in
Walkerton has announced the appointment
of Corinne Louther of Walkerton as the
supervisor .of the Canada Employment Cen-
tre for Students in the Walkerton, Hanover
and Kincardine areas.
Louther, originally of Ripley, is a
graduate of the University of Western On-
tario (B.A.) and of the journalism program
at Sheridan College. She is currently in the
final process of hiring 'student placement of-
ficers for each of the three centres in her
coverage area.
She is available to assist students and
employers in registering with the centre and
is looking forward to making many matches
this summer.
Currently, Louther is working out of the
Canada Employment Centre in Walkerton,
located at 100 Scott Street. On May 8 she will
move to the centre for students at 231
Durham Street in Walkerton. The Kincar-
dine sub -office, located at 325 Lambton
Street, will also open on this date.
Louther encourages both students and
employers to register early as she is op-
timistic for another successful summer this
year. She welcomes any further inquiries at
the Walkerton CECS at 881-2201.
Student registration cards are available
at the centre in Walkerton or at the guidance
office at Kincardine District Secondary
School.
