Man has always had to shop ° for allll the
needed necessities for centuries. ]I will be
comparing the markets of the 1800's to
those <of'the 1980's.
The markets of the 1800's are not really
as good=as the,markets-today. These small
places were ,outside, very :dirty, not kept
clean from :germs and :animals and were
open seventlays a week. Willed tobuyse-
cond hand stuff .called tosh (tosh is
valuables lost in the sewers) . When you
wanted to tell ever ybodywhatyouare:sell-
ing you slid it by screaming it out. They
had no cash registers -so the money you
-earned went in your pocket. They tonly
needed one person to run these small

shops.
`The markets of today are very muds dif-
ferent as you well Imo's/. Almost every
supermarket •:is inside a mall. They have
`always been closed on Sundays by law.
Anything -that's being sold is all new,
nothing from the sewers. All stores are
very large, clean, ;or'g'anized planes. To
advertise they have ads in the paper awl
'coupons -to telt you what's nn saIe.'They all
havecash°registers to hold.the-money. You
had to paymore people to work, and things
cost alot morethanthey did yesterday.
1 certairdy wouldn't want to work in the
markets back in the 1800's because the
1980's markets are more significant.
