Pike What emembrance may means to LCPS student In the followingparagraphs I will give you my ideas of what Remembrance Day means to me. To me, Remembrance Day is a day to remember the soldiers who fought forms in the wars. To begin with, on November llth our school .pays its tribute to Remembrance Day by going to the church service held at a local church. We then go to the cenotaph. At the cenotaph, a chosen person is asked to lay a wreath for our school. That wreath shows just how much we care about those who fought for us. Remembrance Day is very special for our community. Remembrance Day reminds me of the poem In Flander's Fields. I think that we should be very proud of the men who fought for us in the war. We should all realize how much they risked their lives and suffered for us. We are lucky that we have freedom in our world. We wouldn't have freedom if those men didn't fight in the wars. The freedom that we have includes a govern- ment where the people elect it; freedom of the press, and to worship as we wish. We wouldn't have these if our men didn't fight for us. To conclude, I think that we are very lucky to have had those men. I am very glad that we celebrate Remembrance Day in this world. I feel that those people should have special recognition! ClintMuurray Education week a time to celebrate As the text on the poster says: "Take part in Education Week: become a partner in Ontario's future." April 23 to 29 is Education Week in On- tario. To encourage the sharing of knowledge, experience and resources described by this year's theme, "Partner- ships for Success," the Ministry of Educa- tion has prepared a public service an- nouncement for television broadcast, and the poster included in this package. I invite you to display the poster in your school and to plan events that celebrate and call at- tention ttention to the many educatwi rices that enhance and enrich our elementary and secondary school curriculum. Cooperative Education and Adopt A - School are two of many programs in place that promote partnerships in education. Both encourage co-operation and resource sharing between schools, businesses, the community and parents. As this year's Education Week theme points out, these partnerships can give Ontario students a head start on their future careers. During Education Week, we demonstrate our pride in our educational achievements and our confidence in our school system. It's a time to celebrate ex- isting education partnerships and seek out new ones. Your participation .in special events gives parents and the publican op- portunityto ,see our education system in action. Chris Ward.
