Edna McDonald, Betty Ritchie, Marnie
Roulston and Jean Whitby, chairman of
the local branch, attended the annual
meeting of the Bluewater Region of The
Arthritis Society in Walkerton.
The Honourable Campbell Grant,
Bluewater Region chairman welcomed
Carole Elliott, Director of Communica-
tions of the Ontario Division.
Mrs. Elliott expressed appreciation to
the volunteers for their continued interest
and support of scientists and research
groups.
Maureen Forrester, a talented classical
singer, will act as spokesperson for
Canada's only non-profit organization
devoted solely to funding research patient
care and public information of arthritis.
Dr. Samuel Pillersdorf, Rheumatologist,
spoke on the diagnosis of a patient who suf-
fers with this painful disease.
Mrs. Allan Gates explained how to
organize successful fundraising.
Grant Ertel, Kitchener, spoke of the
_raping f Lig--the_I'hts of Col-
umbus organization and discussed the link
with The Arthritis Society.
James Gates, president of the Waterloo -
Wellington Lupus Association shared his
15 years experience as a Lupus patient.
Mary Guse, area co-ordinator, rhaMieng-
ed the volunteers to consider all methods
of raising funds and expressed her
gratitude for the successful co-ordinating
of campaigns in the Bluewater Region.

Mr. and Mrs. Mac Cardiff visited on Sun-
day with Norma Rintoul.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Beecroft were Sun-
day visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Kirk
Beecroft and family of Exeter, and on
Tuesday the Beecrofts visited with Mr.
and Mrs. Stewart Forsyth.
Mrs. Francis Wright of Alliston, Connie
Cover of Kincardine, Mr. and Mrs.
Bradley Smith and baby of near Ottawa
and Ross Smith of Russeldale have been
recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Russel
Chapman.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Simpson attended
the. 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday
of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Struthers of
Lucknow.
Norma Rintoul and Jean Ross attended
the annual meeting and dinner of the
Bluewater Arthritis Society'held Saturday
at the Knights of Columbus Hall,
Walkerton.
Whitechurch UCW
The Whitechurch UCVV'meeting was held
April 5 inthe home of Pauline Adams. The
topic was stewardship and finance.
The leaders were Rev. and Mrs. Neilson
and Mrs. Adams. Rev. Neilson gave the
call to ,worship and ied in prayer.
.Scriptures were read by Mrs. Adams,
Mrs. Neilson and Rev. Neilson.
Rev. and Mrs. Neilson. and Mrs. Adams
read letters from
,.missions'„in China,
Jamaica, Angola, Malawi, telling of their
work in each country.
Ten answered the rollcall by naming a
hymn with the word time or talent.
The 'offering and least coin were receiv-
ed.'Mrs. Neillsongave the offertory prayer.
Business was dealt :with.
Mrs. Farrier closed the meeting with
prayer.
Mr. ,NellsoalSave,graceand Mrs. Adams
served a delicious lunch.
