Unit One of the Lueknow United Church
Women :met April 4 in the •church parlor,
with Laura Rare upening°the meeting with
The call 'to worship.
The rollcall •was answered by eight
members with your favourite spring
flower and why.
Elsie Houston volunteered to relieve
Helen Thompson on phoning members
about meetings.
Evelyn Cook reported for community
friendship by telling of visiting various
members -vias the phone.
Lois `Walden gave the treasurers report
• insthe absence of Isobel Miller who is in the
hospital.
Mrs. Walden also gave the scripture
reading and prayer for Papua, New
Guinea as members participated in the
Least Coin.
The mystery jar was passed around and
the regular offering received. Twelve
members have paid their fees.
Mrs. Houston accompanied the hymn
singing.
Everyone participated in the pot luck
program. Readings were given by Lois
'Walden, Grace Gibson, Tillie Hackett,
- Elsie Houston, Helen Hackett, Phyllis
Morrision and Laura Hare. Evelyn Cook
favoured with a solo.
Asale took place inthe form of a Chinese
auction followed by lunch and a social
time.
Unit Two
The E pril meeting-ems-Unit-Twonf the__
Lucknow United Church Women was held
at the manse, with Marion McFarlane
opening the meeting with a reading, What
are Friends for?.
The minutes were read and treasurer's
report received.
Ten members answered the rollcall, A
Friend never Forgotten. '
The birthday jar was passed for Edna
MacDonald, Ella Hackett and Stella .
Tilbrook and pennies for the least coin
collected.
In keeping with the •theme of the
meeting, Mrs. McFarlane, Mrs. Tilbrook
and Noma Campbell gave suitable
readings.
The devotional part of the 'meeting was
chaired by Mrs. McFarlane, who gave
the meditation entitled How the Church
can Extend Friendship, speaking on the
meaning of friendship which is often spoil-
ed by jealousy and misunderstanding.
Following a hymn, Rev. McFarlane clos-
ed with prayer.

Unit Three met at the home of Anna Mae
Hunter on April 4 with nine members and

meditation given by Mae Hunter, followed
by prayer by Mrs. Gibson.
Mrs. Gibson gave the offertory prayer
followed by a reading by Merle Elliott.
The topic, given by Mrs. Gibson, was on
Women in South Africa. She described the
life of four African women, which was
followed by a short discussion.
Mrs. Cameron closed the meeting with a
cassette tape, Amazing Grace, and all
repeated the mizpah benediction.
Culberts' daughter wed in Cyton
Congratulations to Bob and Lynn Oliver
on their recent marriage March 23 at
Wesley Willis United Church in Clinton.
Lynn is the daughter of Harvey and Beck

• There were 34 tables in play at the
Dungannon Agricultural Society's euchre
tournament last Saturday. First place was
a tie between Don Bricker and Dave
Millian and Jewel Plunkett and Marion
-Sproul. -Second was-Harold—and= Isabel
Adams and third Lloyd and Mary Young.
Dungannon Union Pastoral Charge
Service was held on Sunday at Dungan-
non with Rev. D. Armstrong.
