by Brad Park
Wow! What a way to start spring break.
I travelled to Toronto to Queen's Park with
my mom on Monday, March 13 to be
presented to his Royal Highness, The Duke
of Edinburgh.
Only 16 days before I had been at
Queen's Park to be presented with my
Junior Citizen of the Year Award, by
Lieutenant Governor Lincoln Alexander.
Even though I was proud to be there with
the 14 other recipients, nothing can com-
pare to meeting and talking to Prince
Philip.
On March 3, along with myself, my
parents, two sisters Vicki and Patti, and
brother Steve were guests of the Ontario
Community Newspapers Association and
Canadian Airlines at the Hilton Interna-
tional Hotel. We were truly treated like
royalty.
All the recipients and their families were
even a reception at Queen's Park in the
morning, following breakfast in the Gover-
nor General Jean Sauve's suite in the
hotel.
We then returned to the hotel where we
received our awards. All the junior
citizens signed each others program
booklet beside our own picture. Following
the luncheon, it was a "meet the press" to
close a'very exciting two days.
I have made a few close friends and wish
to thank Pat Livingston in particular and
The Lucknow Sentinel for my nomination.
It is something I will always remember.
