The ladies of the Ripley Women's Institute
are holding an "Informal Family Come and
Go Party" on Saturday April 8th from 2 to 4
pm in the Ripley Legion Hall. They have a
two fold purpose in the event - to celebrate
their 85th birthday in Ripley and at the same
time to provide the opportunity for folks to
meet their neighbours for friendly conversa-
tion. It is on this Saturday April 8th.
Holding bridal shower
Mrs. Barbara Messenger of the 6th con-
cession west in Huron township would like
everyone of this area to know that they are
holding an open bridal shower for Kathy
Boyd at 2 pm on Saturday April 15 in Reid's
Corner Community Hall.
Big farm auction held
Auctioneers Grant McDonald of Ripley
and Wallace Ballagh of Teeswater con-
ducted the sale for Lloyd Lamont at the
farm on the sixth concession west in Huron
township last Saturday April lst. Judging by
the traffic through Ripley here there must
have been a fair attendance at it.
Heard obituary on radio
Sitting here on Monday afternoon -April 3
and listening to "In Mernorirn" on the
,C.K.N.X. obituary we heard a name listed in
Saturday's obituary for friend Jess
Campbell.
Willard John (Jess) Campbell of 196
Goderich Street in Kincardine died at his
residence on March 30, 1989. He was born in
Ripley Dec. t1, 1904.
The funeral service was held in the Davey
Linklater Funeral Horne in Kincardine at 2
pm April lst.
Interment in Kincardine Cemetery.
Service conducted by Rev. Dr. Norman
Perry of the Kincardine United Church.
Mr. Campbell is survived by a sister Jean
La Rose of Pinecrest Manor in Lucknow.
Predeceased by four brothers - Malcolm,
Roy, Arthur and Donald. Also by four sisters
- Ada McGrath, Elizabeth Matheson, Annie
Pringle, Mora McTaggart of Cornwall.

Juveniles Begin OMHA Finals
The Armstrong Construction Juveniles
hosted Woodville on April 2 in the first of the
best of seven OMHA finals. They dominated
the game' to a 7-1 victory. Tallying Ripley's
goals were: Stephen Fry from Rob Brooks,
Kevin DeJong assisted by Stephen Keelan
and Donald Martyn, Todd Farrell from Rob
Brooks, Billy Patterson on a pass from Clint
Twolan, Stephen Keelan from Steven Fry,
Chris Irwin assisted by Todd Farrell and
Clint Twolan from Stephen Keelan and
Kevin DeJong. Jeff Wilken gave up his shut-
out at the 2:22 mark of the last period.
The Ripley lads travelled to Woodville on
the weekend to play games two and three.
Game four is back in Ripley on Saturday,
April 15 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 16 at 2
p.m. if necessary.
Tyke 11
The Ripley lads travelled to Chesley on
March 25 and doubled up on their opponents
84. Darrin Smegal led the attack scoring
two goals. Singles were earned by Matt
MacDonald, Joe Scott, Paul McDonald,
Brett Pollock, Adam Collins and Jamie
Brown.

Reuben John Zettler
Reuben John Zettler of Culross
Township, passed away at Bruce County
General Hospital, Walkerton .on Friday,
--March17,1989.
Born on March 28, i516, Mr. Zettler had
farmed in Culross for 44 years,and was a
director of Teeswater District Co-op a
number of years ago. Prior to farming in
Culross, he farmed in Brant Township.
On May 14, 1945, he married Margaret
Ruth at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church,
Riversdale.
Surviving are his wife Margaret; two
sons, BM of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba,
and John of Toronto, and one daughter
Helen Reitzel of Kitchener. Also survived
by ten grandchildren; predeceased by one
grandson in .infancy.
- Surviving brothers and sisters are:
Lawrence Zettler of Hanover; Rita
Berberioh, Walkerton; Amelia Landin of
Hamilton; Leona .Sclnnidt, Walkerton;
Dorothy Ernewein, Chepstow; Julia Lacey
of Chepstow; Helen Schmidt :of Chepstow;
Mark Zettler of Hanover.
Funeral service was held March ,20 at 11
a.m. at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church
with Father Downey officiating and David
Ashley, organist.
Pallbearers were: Lorne Howe, Barry
Haldenby, .Ron Kraemer, Orval Wilson,
Dave Voisin and Reg Brown.
Burial at St. Ann's Riversdale. Mac-
Pherson Funeral Home was in charge of
the arrangements.

Cora May MacDonald
Cora May MacDonald, of .565 Campbell
Street, Lucknow passed away in Wingham
and District Hospital on March .28, 1989 in
her 81st year.
Mrs. MacDonald was a member of the
Lucknow Presbyterian Church.
She was born in Mono "Township, Duf-
ferin County on May 17,1908, a daughter of
the late James Turnbull and Beatty
Florence.
The late Mrs. MacDonald is survived by
four children, Florence Martin of
Listowel; Mary Lou Brown of Burlington;
Kenneth MacDonald of Kincardine and
Peggy Kolenbrankder of Burlington.
One brother, Louis Turnbffil of Port
Elgin and .a sister, Hildred Nelson of
Hanover -also survive.
She was predeceased by her husband,
Robert in 1975; a son Jack in 1954 and a
brother Bob.
Visitation was held -at the MacKenzie
and McCreath Funeral Home in Lucknow,
from where the funeral service was con-
ducted by Rev. A. Ramsay of the Lucknow
Presbyterian Church, on March 31.
The eulogy was given by Mrs. Mac -
Donald's. grandson, Jack Martin.
F.lowerbearers were grandaughters,
Kim Brown, Debbie Furiick, Diane Flem-
ing, Natalie -Fleming, Emily Kolen-
brander, Angela MacDonald, Jodie Mac-
Donai4, Jaclyn Martin and Cheryl
Martin.
Pallbearers were Grant Eckenswiller,
Cliff Johnston, lack Martin, Shawn Mac-
Donald, igen Fletriing -and Ivan Furliek.
Springinterment in Greenhill Cemetery,
Lucknow.
