Elliotts return from Florida
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Elliot of concession 10
returned home from the winter in Hudson.
Florida on Sun. afternoon. They were Sun-
day supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. John
L. Farrell, Teresa, Tania, Tobi and Jen-
nifer. Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Greenwood, Jean-Paul, Joel, and Joy -Ellen
of Clover Valley.
Get well wishes are extended from Purple
Grove friends to Mr. Donald Gillies who is a
patient in Kincardine and District Hospital
this week.
Recent dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Donald Simpson of concession 10 were Mrs.
Katherine Collins, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Patterson, and Mr. Bobby Robertson.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald McCosh and Mr. and
Mrs. Donald Robertson were Saturday din-
ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Aurel Armstrong
of the Southline.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo. Arnold of the Toronto
area were Sunday visitors with their aunt
Mrs. Gladys Arnold.
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver MacCharles of Kin-
cardine were Saturday night guests of Mrs.
Marjorie Thompson of Ripley.
Katherine, Robert, and ` David Machnnes
were weekend visitors with their grand-
mother Mrs. Edna Stanley of concession 12.

Wednesday evening. Anyone desiring addi-
tional items can contact Marion Nisbett of
Ripley.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Collins of Conces-
sion 12, Mr. and Mrs. Ed McGillvray of
Ripley and Kay Collins of Ripley were Sun-
day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. David
Lochhead of Waterloo. The occasion was to
celebrate Rachel's fifth birthday.
Tobi Farrell of concession 10 and Andrea
Hiller of Whitechurch were Sunday visitors
with Joy -Ellen Greenwood of Clover Valley.
Sympathy is extended to the family of the
late Bob (Cora) MacDonald who used to
farm on the 8th concession.
Community Bible Study was held at the
home of Mrs. Glen McPherson on Tuesday
morning. The ladies were tying a quilt as
well.
Ladies are reminded of the Annual
Meeting of the Purple Grove Women's In-
stitute scheduled for Wednesday Apr. 4 at
1:30 p.m. It will be held at the Community
Centre in Purple Grove.

We made butterflies out of wallpaper
and lady bugs for our spring bulletin
boards.

Mrs. Young's Kindergarten Class II
would like to welcome Robby M. to their
class. Also they wish Sarah Naylor best
wishes in her new school, Victoria, in
Goderich.
Grade 1, Room 5
Miss Mathers' Grade Ones are discuss-
ing sharing equally - one half and one
fourth are the two fractions we are learn-
ing about. We are looking forward to our
trip to Robinson's Maple Sugar Bush on
Friday, March 31st.
Grade 2/3
Room 4
The Room 4 Wonder Tree completed the
Pizza party this week by writing stories.
The stories began with: "I ate my pizza.
Suddenly a strange feeling came over
me..." We have some super story ideas to
share! We've also continued to talk about
rain forests. David, Dillon and Melissa
have been collecting books and magazines
about them, too. Benji Upthegrove and
Adam McDonald were "Special Me".
Grade 3, Room 9
Grade 3 is back after their long weekend.
We're finishing up multiplication and divi-
sion and getting ready to study fractions.
Our next theme unit is Animals. Cathy,
Roberta, Tasha, Mark, Julia and Allison
will be doing research with Mrs. Blake.
The Science Fair is next week. Many class
members have a collection or hobby
entered. We'll be studying the Scientific
Method in class.
Grade 4 Port. 3
We are learning about angles. Thank you
Mrs. Park for helping us solve the puzzling
angle design. Last week we made pop-up
flowers. We have writing buddies from
Newfoundland. Mrs. Rene Snell came to
talk to us about her life in Labrador. She
brought different jams for us to try. They
were all made from berries that grow in
Labrador.
Grade 4/5, Port. 2
Mr. Culp's grade 4/5 class is doing a
great job at collecting pop cans to recycle.
With the help from classes in the school
they have managed to collect 113 kg of
recycled cans. Wow!
Grade 6,:Room 12
We have had lots offun during the March
break. We would like to welcome back An-
jana Dhaliwal who has spent the last two
weeks in England. Grade 6 has been work-
ing hard on science projects and music
projects. We hope everyone had a Happy
Easter.
Grade 7, Room 10
In Home Ec. we started our Initial
Pillows. This Fri., March 31 grade seven
gets to skip rope for two hours for "Jump
Rope for Heart". In history we are having
an Indian test.
Grade 7/8, Room 8
In gym we are starting to do square dan-
cing and we all like it. In math we are do-
ing rotationing, angles and different
shapes, for example quadrilaterals,
triangles, etc. In home ec the Grade 7's are
slaking initial pillows out of scrap
materials. In shop the Grade 8's are work-
ing on their projects.
Grade 8,1 loom 11
In gym we started square dancing. In
science we started Air Pollution. In math
we are doing area of a circle.
Library
The library assistants' group ,will be
helping the grade 1 and 2 students on an
phonics computer program. This will con-
tinue t.,r °'he next few weeks. We hope the
assis. .its and students enjoy this.
