The Conference was held March 17 to 19 at the Skyline Airport Hotel in Torun., to. Delegates from across the province participated in the conference along with guests from the Future Farmers of America, Manitoba Rural Youth, P.E.I. Rural Youth, Quebec Young Farmers and Indiana Young Adults. "The Challenge is Mine in '89" was the Theme of the conference, which included guest speakers, the Annual Meeting, Charity Auction and the /Annual Banquet and Dance. Guest speakers and sessions included Alan Simmons, Program Yourself for Success; Ross Daily, Junior Farmer Public Image; Creative Methods to Motivating Volunteers; Making Your Meetings Fun; Agriculture in the Classroom; Stress Management; Increas- ing Membership; and Rev. Rodger Mc- Comb. The delegates came away from the sessions with a new awareness of Junior Farmers and a knowledge of personal potentials.. -Ai-the=Aannual-Mi e+et g-Seo--Keiraani— Brant Co., was elected President of the Association and Kelley Allen, Prescott Co., Vice -President. During the meeting, many by-law, changes and resolutions were put before the members. Topics ranged from name change of the Association, age restrictions, to the future direction , of the organization. Junior Farmers govern themselves and it is here where they have the power of change. The Charity Auction for the Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind was the most suc- cessful ever with over $24,900 being raised to date. The Zone 7 package, consisting of items from Huron, Perth, Bruce and Grey Junior Farmers, was bought for $2,800._ The cheque was presented to the founder of the Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind, Bill Thornton, during the Annual -Banquet. The Huron County Junior Farmers would like to thank The Old Mill, The Little Inn, Robindale's and the Blyth Festival for their donations. Anne Alton, Wingham, was inducted as Huron County's Provincial Director dur- ing the Candlelight Induction Ceremony performed during the Annual Banquet. In- terprovincial Trip Winners from Huron County were Paul Hoggarth, R,R. 2 Kip - pen, and Sandra Regele, R.R. 1 Dublin.They will be travelling tb Alberta and Manitoba respectively this summer. These trips are sponsored by the Junior Farmers' Association of Ontario and various Agri -businesses. Delegates attending the conference from Huron County were Stacey Bean, Goderich, Lisa Ranimeloo, Blyth, Robert Bunking, R.R. 1 Auburn, Debbie Craig, Blyth and Mike Ryan, R.R. 3 Ailsa Craig. Anne Alton was on the conference organiz- ing committee Many other Huron County Junior Farmers travelled to Toronto, to at- tend the Annual Banquet and Dance.
