Thursday, April 27, 1989 at 8:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers (Township Shed)
to consider the following;
1. To allow the public to comment on the need for revisions of the Secondary Plan
for the Township of Ashfield under section 26 of the Planning Act, 1983. The Plann-
ing Act requires that municipalities provide the public with the opportunity through
a special meeting of Council to comment on the need for revisions to the Secondary
Plan. This meeting is an opportunity for persons with comments of suggested changes
to make their thoughts known to Council.
2. To consider a proposed official plan amendment under section 17 of the Planning
Act, 1983. The proposed plan amendment would update the existing Secondary Plan
and includes the following:
(a) Agriculture policies dealing with farm viability, surplus residences, temporary
dwellings, and site plan control;
(b) Natural Environment policies to establish a required setback for new cot-
tages above the top -of -bank;
(c) Urban policies dealing with residential, commercial and industrial uses, site
Atari control, and new maps of the hamlets.
(d) Extractive Resource policies dealing with new operations, extractive industrial
uses, and site plan control.
(e) Recreational policies dealing with campgrounds, a larger setback from the
top -of -bank for new cottage developments based on the 100 -year erosion
hazard, and severance policies for recreational areas.
(f) New policies for Heritage Conservation, Community improvement, Energy
Conservation, and Municipal Services.
ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or make written or verbal represen-
tation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed official plan amendment.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION relating to the proposed official plan amendment is
available for inspection between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Huron County Depart-
ment of Planning and Development (524-2188) or at the Township of Ashfield Municipal
Office (529-7383).

Visitors abound
Sympathy is extended to the Purple Grove
families of Isabell Forster and Martha
McIver. The funerals were on Tuesday and
Wednesday this past week.
Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Donald
MeCosh of Ripley were Irene Boyle and Jen-
nifer Farrell, Mr. and Mrs. Don Robertson
,of Purple Grove and Bill McPherson of
Kinloss Township. Rev. Glen McPherson
and Mrs. Joyce McPherson visited.
Mrs. Donald McIver, daughter Barbara
and son Donald of Fort McMurray were
down for the funeral of Martha McIver last
week.
Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Rothwell were Rose and John Norton, Kelly,
Rick and Shannon Stromgman.
Celebrating Theresa Rothwell's 30th bir-
thday at her home on the weekend were
John and Ted Burley, Margaret and Albert
Middlecamp and Anne and Don McGosh.
Elva Lowry had the misfortune to fall and
break her arm on the ice last week.
On Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Donald McCosh
visited in Kincardine with Florence Pollard,
and Marjorie Reid. While in town they also
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Colwell
who have just returned from Florida.

Teresa Farrell spent Monday and Tues-
day of the March Break with Mr. and Mrs.
Doug MacDonald and family On Saturday
Teresa was one of a group of Ripley area
young people to take part, in a Bonspiel at
the Ripley Curling Rink.
Tania Farrell spent Monday and Tuesday
with Mr. and Mrs. Sam Finnie's on conces-
sion ten.
Tobi Kay Farrell spent Monday and Tues-
day with Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Farrell and
Marsha of Huron Township.
Jennifer Farrell spent Monday and Tues-
day with Mr. and Mrs. Francis Boyle of
Ripley.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Baker visited with Mr.
and Mrs. John L. Farrell of concession ten
on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Geddes were Sunday
supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Far-
rell. After supper they were visited by Mr.
and Mrs. Stephen Elliott, Lea and Lyn of

Mr. and Mrs. John Collins of Purple Grove
were visited by Michel and Noella Lesves-
que of Brancroft from Monday to Thursday.
On Friday and Saturday they hosted Mrs.
Margie Locheed of Waterloo. She was ac-
companied by her children Shauna, Rachel
and Devin.
Welcome back to Katherine Collins of
Ripley who returned from the sunny south.
Katherine motored back with Wanda
Gawley and her daughter Velma, returning
on the weekend. Sunday supper guests with
Katherine Collins were Mr. and Mrs. John
Collins and family and Margie Locheed and
children.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvie Thompson recently
visited with cousins Lotta Payne of
Lambeth and Russell Ball of London.
On the weekend Tammy MacDonald
visited with her grandparents Mr. and Mrs.
Harvie -Thompson. Also visiting from South
Porcupine were Mr. and Mrs. Derick
Mallows and Kent Mallows.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvie Thompson visited
with Clara Thompson on her birthday at the
Southampton Nursing Home.

Marion Emerson of Purple Grove. Marion
returned Friday from a warm winter in
Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Farrell were visited
midweek by Janice, Rachel and Colleen
Miller of Thorndale. Peter and Susan
Roberts, Garret, Christopher and Dwight
were also weekend visitors with the Far-
rell's on concession twelve -of Huron
Township.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Farrell of concession
twelve attended the spring barn meeting of
the Holstein Club at the farm of Ken Wall of
CulrosseTownship.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Greenwood returned
Sunday from a warm March break week in
Hudson, Florida. They spent the week
visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Elliott at
their winter home. They also spent time
visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Elliott and
Shari of St. James City, Pine Island,
Florida, Donald Elliott, Mr. and Mrs. Paul
