Residents organize staff night
Brucelea Haven News
The Brucelea Haven Residents' Council
was active organizing and implementing
plans for the annual Staff Appreciation
Night. Staff and their families were
treated to a social evening with the
residents. A light luncheon was served by
the residents.
If you feel like a challenge, perhaps you
would like to quiz yourself against
Brucelea's ,"spelling bee pros." The first
impelling -was syn i'ebruary-md -tt---
can be said is that you would have to be a
pretty sharp speller if you were to compete
with the champs!
The King and Queen of Hearts were
elected and crowned at the annualJa1en-
tine's party. King, Frank Anstett and
Queen, Bertha Benninger had Minnie
Miller, Louise McKay (princesses) and
Garnet Taylor, Sandy McDougall
(princes) to complete their royal party.
Vickie Zettel provided a wonderful after-
noon of music to make the royal crowning
complete.
The monthly birthday party was spon-
sored by the Walkerton Kinettes which in-
cluded a variety of acts, several solos, a
memorized speech on red hair, and a few
instrumental solos and duets.
In the latter part of February, the
Brucelea Haven Auxiliary sponsored a
musical afternoon for the residents. Earl

and Martha Heywood sang many old
favorites including the stories and tales of
the Black Donnellys. The Heywoods had
many fans at Brucelea Haven as almost all
of the residents attended and recognized
the music of this famous duet.
The Red Cross class, presently holding
their course at Brucelea Haven, assisted in
getting rid of the February blahs by throw-
ing a winter B.B.Q. Fifty residents sunk
_their teeth into a delicious meal. Volunteer
barbecue expert David Donnelly did a ter-
rific job man -handling all three barbecues.
The last and most creative activity in-
volved 20 residents exploring their artistic
abilities. Finger painting, string art and
"other" masterpieces were displayed in
the corridors at Brucelea Haven. It was
abstact art to many but it brought many
smiles to the people at Brucelea Haven.
Welcome to Stewart Thompson, Ed-
mund Meyer, Christina Davidson, Wilf
Murray, Alvin and Mildred Cuneo, Henry
Todtz and Doretta Spitzig to Brucelea
Haven.
