The community's thoughts go out to Mr.
and Mrs. Gary Palmer and family who
lost their barn on Concession 10, by fire
around midnight last Tuesday. It was the
former Robb place, where Marjorie and
the late Cliff Robb lived before moving to
Holyrood, just east of Gerald Rhody's
farm. Joan Murray kindly took Mrs.
Palmer and the two children down to
spend the night away from the burning
barn.
Pastor and Mrs. Marvin Christensen and
Shirley Stanley went to Exeter on Tuesday
to attend the funeral of the late James Ed-
wards, father of Diane Jones, of the south
line.
Louisa Schneller of Wingham, visited on
Monday with Edna and May Boyle and Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Scott and Mrs. Alex Percy
were at the same home on Wednesday. On
Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Bill Collins of
Lurgan visited.
Nice to see the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Reg Powell lit up again after their holiday
with family members, where they enjoyed
a surprise birthday party for Reg.
The Holyrood Women's Institute had 11
tables playing at their card party on Tues-
day evening. Everyone had fun and prize
. winners were Shawn McEwan and Mrs.
Glen Haldenby, Reta Irwin and Don
McCosh.
Some frombere a eridedthe-Lenten ser-
vice at St. Peter's Anglican Church in
Lucknow on Wednesday. Last week's
midweek was here at the church and Good
Friday will be a noon day service for all to
come and let us worship together.

Mrs. Roy Collins was hostess for the
Quiet Lenten Day A.C.W. meeting at her
home on Thursday. She also presided and
read the scripture and Rev. David Atwell
gave a very impressive talk on why we
observe lent and plans for the Maundy
Thursday Sedar meal at Kinlough
Anglican service, commemorating the last
supper that our Lord had with His
disciples. Several Lenten hymns were sung
and the meeting was open for a question
period.
The roll' call was a Lenten verse and.
Carol Cooper was pianist.
Mrs. David Haldenby will be the hestess

for April at her home when we will have a
noon day pot luck meal.
Rev. Atwell had a prayertime, followed
by refreshments and Mary Haldenby gave
the Courtesies.

Mr. and Mrs. Eric Thacker and other
members of the Bell family went to Toron-
to on Friday attending the funeral of
Lynda's cousin, the late Michael Cameron,
a very sudden passing in his 36th year. We
all extend sympathy to the bereaved at
this time.
Mr. and Mrs. Don G' espie were guests
of their family Mr. and Mrs. Ron Gillespie,
Mr. and Mrs. Andy Page, at the Sutton
Park Inn on Friday evening; it being the
occasion of Don and Marion's 35th Wed-
ding Anniversary. We all extend our hear-
tiest congratulations.
We extend sympathy to Walter Forster
and family in the • passing of his wife
Isabelle (the former Isabelle Colwell) of
here.
Mrs. Don Bertrand, and family of Sim-

Percy, Bill and Brian.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Whiteside of
Toronto spent the weekend here with her
father, Arthur Haldenby.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Haldenby of Guelph
have been at the Haldenby home here so
they could visit his .a.other Margaret,
who is a patient in the Wingham and
District Hospital, she had a fall at
Pinecrest Manor where she has been a
resident for some time.

Great graneson visits
Here we are, well into the month of
March, (the month of all kinds of weather)
and most important it is the Easter Break
for all school children. Will all drivers be
very careful of these carefree children
who often forget to be careful.
George Maclennan of Agincourt visited
with his mother and sister Rhetta and
Marion MacLennhn. This time, to make
the visit more interesting, he brought
along his three-year-old grandson, which
brought great joy to great grandmother
and great Aunt Marion.
On Tuesday, Finlay MacDonald accom-
panied Elmer Culbert to London for the
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Robb are looking
after a couple of their granddaughters,

Shelly and Karen, daughters of William
and Shirley Irvin of Ashfield Township.
The other daughter Lindsay is recovering
from a tonsil operation.
Jack MacLennan of Stratford visited on
Wednesday with his mother and sister,
Rhetta and Marion MacLennan.
Jim Webster of Waterloo, Kae Webster's
son, is seeing his second specialist on
Thursday in Hamilton. Jim is still unable
to go back to work since hurting his wrist
the middle of April 1988.
