TO DETERMINE THE NEED FOR REVISIONS TO THE
ASHFiELD TOWNSHIP SECONDARYPLAN
— TO CONSIDER A PROPOSED ,OFFICIAL PLAN AMENDMENT
TAKE NOTICE that the Council .of the Corporation of the County :of Huron and the
----Council-of the Cerpraratiowef-the- cship f Ashfield-wlll-ketch mblicTneeting—on
Thursday, ,April 27, 1989 at 8:90 p.m. in the Council Chambers (Township Shed)
to consider the following:
1. To allow the public to comment on the need for revisions of the Secondary Plan
for the Township of Ashfield under section 25 of the Planning Act, 1983. The Plann-
ing Act requires that municipalities :provide the public with the opportunity through
a special meeting of Council to comment on the need for revisions to the Secondary
Plan. This meeting is an opportunity for persons with comments of suggested changes
to make their thoughts known to Council.
2. To consider a proposed official plan amendment under section 17 of the Planning
Act, 1983. The .proposedeplan amendment would update the existing Secondary Plan
and includes the following:
(a) Agriculture policies dealing with -farm •viability, surplus residences, temporary
dwellings, .and site plan control;
•.(b) NaturaI Environmentpolicies to establish .a required setback for rnew cot-
tages above the top -of -bank;
(c) Urban policies dealing with residential, commercial and industrial uses, site
plan control, and new maps of the hamlets.
(d) Extractive Resource policies dealing with new :operations, -extractive industrial
uses, 'and site plan control.
(e) Recreational policies tiealing°with :campgrounds, a largerse+tbackfrom the
top -of -bank 1or new cottage developments based :on the 100 -year -erosion
-hazard, and :severance poticies for recreational areas.
(1) -New policies for -Heritage Conservation, Community Improvement, Energy
Conservation, and -Municipal Services.
ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or make written or verbal represen-
tation =either in support of or in :opposition to the proposed official plan amendment.

On completion he will return to Peter-

Sandra D'aoust, Dungannon captain of
The March of Dimes campaign, extends
her special thanks to the following can-
vassers, Kelly Brindley, Jo -areae Wilkins,
(Ashfield) Karen Roberts, Penny Hodges,
Gwen Copeland (West Wawanosh) . It was
a most successful campaign.
The Dungannon Senior • Citizens held
their Wednesday night card party with 14
tables. High lady - Adeline Allin, low lady -
Aileen Tronuner, high man tie between
Cliff Menary and Carman Pollock with the
winner being Cliff Menary and low man
John Harris.
Mary Ann and Sheldon Martin, New
Hamburg were mid -week viisiters with her
sister Margaret and Jim Errington; also,
her brother Earl and Ruby Dahmer,
Cambridge.
Jane and Robert Shetler,'St. Catharines,
are visiting Mrs. Lee Shetler.
World Day of Prayer
The World Day of Prayer was held at
Dungannon this year, on March 2, and in-
cluded joint worship with the ladies of the
following churches for the annual service,
Port Albert, Kingsbridge, North Ashfield,
Trinity, St. Au e, Donnybrook and
Nile.
-I lin-Dawson-anddMargaret-E ngton-
met the ladies at the door, while organist
Jean Elliot was playing the organ, she also
played the hymns during the service.
Gloria Pearson welcomed all. Sincere
thought was then given to all who are sick
from our different communities, also those
who have passed away in this past year.
After a moment of silence, the Lord's
Prayer was repeated in unison.
This year's program was prepared by a

small band of Christian wornen in Burma,
the theme was Lord, Teach us to Pray.
After the opening hymn, the ladies from
each church read scriptures, while the
congregation read the response and dif-
ferent prayers were read by all.
Shirley Marten, Virginia Stright, Cecilia
Miltenburg, Laurie Dalton, Betty "Lou
Dalton of Kingsbridge supplied the special
music. Two also played guitar, while the
collection was being received by Linda
Curran and Elsie Pannabecker. Gloria
Pearson gave the offering Prayer. You
would have to had heard these ladies to ap-
preciate how beautiful they sang.
Guest speaker was Karen Roberts from
Dungannon. She spoke on prayer, how
prayer is needed in all our lives, nothing is
too small or too large to pray for, and our
children are never too young to be taught
to pray. She gave an inspiring message.
All repeated the benediction. Gloria
Pearson then thanked those who had taken
part in making it such a meaningful after-
noon and all were invited to the basement
for refreshment and coffee.
Following lunch Betty Lou Dalton rnov-
-ed- a--mt -o titt-to--Duna an --f
hosting the service and to all who had
taken part. She mentioned how she felt
God was speaking to us, when this world
wide service was on Prayer and we are in
this controversy on taking Prayer out of
schools. In her report the was going to
make a suggestion if this service could be
moved to April so weather would be better.
Next year the service will be held in
Donnybrook.
CVL looking for participation
The prayers and thoughts of the com-
munity continueto be with Carl and.Lissett
Stanley and family following the recent
serious accident involving their daughter
Laura, who continues to recover at
Children's Hospital of Western Ontario.
As well ,the community .continues to
munember in their 'prayers Lori Howard.
Patrick Hogan .and Maryetta Martin who
are continuing :to convalesce.
St. Joseph's C.W.L. held their reg rlar
monthly .meeting in St. Joseph's Parish
Hall on Monday evening March 6.
Among items discussed were the upcom-
ing convention in May, the World Day of
Prayer which was held in Dungannon on
Marchi and ways of increasing participa-
'tion in the league.
The nominating committee is now ,get-
ting things prepared 'for the upcoming
elections to be held at :the April meeting.

sick and shut-ins and Clarice Dalton on
Pro -Life.
St. Joseph's Folk Choir, consisting 1
Betty Lou Dalton, Laurie Dalton, Shirley
Martin, Cecilia Miltenburg and Virginia
Stright, 'performed at the World Day of
Prayer where they were much enjoyed
and appreciated. Several other members
of the C.W.L. also attended the World Day
of . Prayer service.

school each Thursday evening from 7.30 -
9:30 p.m. The focus of attention now are
the Prophets who preached .a message,
still very relevant in our world today.
The students and teachers of St.
Joseph'sSchoolhad the opportunity to par-
ticipate in a fun -filled Winter Activities
Day on Friday, March 3 at the school.
Teams were made up to Include students
from every grade who then competed
against each other in a variety of games
and activities. It proved to be a ;most en-
joyable day.

Aero on March 9 the zone Boor; hockey
tournament was held at St. Joseph's with
St. Joseph's, Clinton, Sacred Heart,
Wingham, St. 'Mary's, Goderich as well as
St. Joseph's Kingsbridge participating.
Kingsbridge Blizzards did •very well
finishing second, while top spot went to
Sacred Heart, 'Wingham. Congratulations
to •all.
