These wonderful delicacies are fondant filled, covered in chocolate and hand decorated. The group made 240 to sell this year. The proceeds will be used for their foster child in Kenya. Upcoming events include a luncheon by the Sunday School following church on April 2; Thankoffering service April 18, 8 p.m. The meeting closed with the Benediction. Unit 3 Unit three of the Lucknow United Church Women met at the Sepoy Apart- ments on March 7, with 12 members and three visitors in attendance. The theme of the meeting was Easter and Anna Mae Hunter gave a suitable verse, He is Risen. Easter hymns .and readings interspersed the meeting and program. Rollcall was answered with an Easter verse. The treasurer reported that Unit three now has 14 members. The collection of the Least Coin and donations for the Blanket Fund were received. Reports were received from Edith Webster on the flower committee and An- na Dexter on the supply committee. There are two quilts ready for tieing. Mrs. Hunter and Mary Black reported on the Presbyterial session held in Port Elgin. Mrs. Black presided for the program opening with a hymn and a poem. Evelyn Henderson read the scripture and Mrs. Hunter led in prayer. A dialogue, Jesus on His ..Knees, was given by Ruth Pritchard and: Mrs. Black Mrs. Webster entertained with organ music. Readings, a contest and quiz were conducted by Mrs. Webster and Mrs. Black. The meeting closed with the Benediction. Jean Stewart Jean Stewart of London, formerly of Lucknow, died in Victoria Hospital, Westminster Campus, London, on March 9, 1989 in her 92nd year. Mrs. Stewart was a 'member of the Lucknow Presbyterian Church and was very active in the Women's Missionary Society. She sang in the church choir for over 40 years - a dedicated, wonderful lady. She was born on July 4, 1897 in Lucknow, a daughter of James Fisher and Barbara McMillan. On March 9, 1920 she married Phillip Stewart of Lucknow, who predeceased her in 1971. Mrs. Stewart was the last surviving member of her family. She is survived by her children Gwen- dolyn and her husband John Wilson of Oakville; Winifred of Le yd and his wife Dorothy of Dundas; Allan and his wife Jane of Burlington; six grand- children and nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stewart was predeceased by her parents, three brothers and four sisters. The funeral service was conducted at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home Lucknow, by Rev. 13. Henderson of Lucknow and Rev. R. Robinson of London. Mrs. Stewart's son Allan was soloist. Pallbearers were Ross Wilson, Bob Campbell, John Stewart, Don Reynolds, Gordon Struthers and Gord McIntosh. Spring interment GreenhillCemetery, Lucknow. Donald MacKenzie. Cosh, Ripley, one brother Currie Colwell, Kinloss, and 28 grandchildren. Predeceased by son Joe. Funeral service at 2 p.m. in the MacKen- zie McCreath Home in Ripley. The service was conducted by Rev. Glen Macpherson, St. Andrew's United Church, Ripley. Spring interment in Ripley Cemetery. Dr. William O Rhoad Dr. William O. Rhoad, a former minister at Knox Ripley and Ashfield Presbyterian Churches, passed away recently in Virginia. A native of New England, Dr. Rhoad ministered for 18 years in Canada. He was in Ripley -Ashfield from 1941 to 1949. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and two sons. His son John is Presbyterian minister in British Columbia. Marie C. Black Marie C. Black of East Lansing, died February 20,1989 at Burcham Hills Retire- ment Center, East Lansing, at the age of 89. Born on July 6, 1899, she was a ddaughter of the late T afherine and SABFI .LF, (COLWELL) FORSTER Mrs. Isabelle (Colwell) Forster, Ripley led in Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton, Saturday, March 11, 1989. She was born in Kinloss Township, April 2, 1916. Her parents were John W. Colwell and Bella Moore. Surviving are her husband Walter Forster of Ripley and eight daughters - Ruthe (Mrs. Gordon Patterson) RR 3 Ripley, Annetta (Mrs. William Robin- son) Ripley, , Carolyn (Mrs. Donald Johnston) Mississauga, Q Janet (Mrs. J.F. Maillette) Kitchener, Barbara (Mrs. Bill MacKenzie) Goderich, Mary (Mrs. Milan Luzeravich) Goderich, TDorinda (Mrs. Don Bowers) Kincardine, Cathy Pasetka, Green- wood, Nova Scotia, and three sons - Robert, Lurgan Beach, Donald, Kincardine Township, James W., Pinewood, Ontario. She is survived by one sister Annie Mc - Mrs. Black is a cousin of Jessie Johnston of Lucknow and Liella Finlayson of Kin- cardine. Lucknow and area residents may remember that Mrs. Black spent many summers in this area when she had a cot- tage at Bruce Beach. As a young girl she attended and graduated from Miss Hunter's School for Girls and graduated from Columbia University. She then became a teacher in a private school. On December 27, 1929 she married Ken- neth C. Black, who survives her. She is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Duncan M. Black and Dr. Necia A. Black of New Yom; two ;grand- sons; a niece and'nephew; several grand- nieces and grandnephews and cousins A memorial service was held in the Ada Whitehouse Room on February 25.
