Oh! Those Cream Cans
We do not know who penned these lies,
but they certainly do, in a humorous way,
refer to a heavy burden of expense on the
creamery industry. The lines recently ap-
peared in a f ran mag zine, and while we
do not think that any of our patro ,s are
shonest in handling our cans, we do want
these little jocular verses to suggest that
you co=operate with us in sending all cans
back to the creamery. The less we have to
pay for new cans, the more we can pay for
butterfat.—THE CREAMERY.
OH! THOSE CREAM CANS
We buy the best cans we can get,
They cost us a big price.
We wash and dry them, by machine
To keep them clean and nice.
We've bought thein by the hundreds
Now we wonder where they are;
Oh! they're loaned to the producer
To ship cream from near and far.
Some come back, we hardly know them
Others must have gone astray,
Some are rusty, some are battered—
One came back' the other day
"Twould have made you cry to see it,
Didn't look like a can at all;
Must have dropped eighteen stories
When someone let it fall.
They are used out in the pig -pen
And they're handy `round the barn,
As to what the cans have cost us
Some folks do not care a darn;
They are useful M the sugar -bush
And for carrying gasoline,
They're also nice as jardinieres
When painted blue or green.
As umbrella stands they're find
For -they catclr-all tile -drip; ---
As to who the cans belong to
Some folks don't care a rip;
They're used to hold the garbage,
Upside down for kitchen stools,
In the driving -shed they're dandy
To hold odds and ends and tools.
Just fill a can half fft a : of straw
And lay it on its side,
Any place where hens can go—
`Twill soon be occupied.
The folk who make swamp moonshine
Sho d always use our can,
As the effects from the tin will give the
kick
That'll knock out any irnan.
To mention all their uses
Would fill a good-sized book;
Producers visit neighbors,
And they don't forget to look,
For there they learn some new ones
Which they are sure to try—
And when our cans are all in "use"—
Some more we'll have to buy.
But don't forget this little fact.
Or cans are out "on loan",
And some day there will be a change
"Producers buy their own."
The cans will then not seem so cheap
And they'll get better care.
The Cream Can Laws will be enforced
And we'll be treated fair.
You know the cost and work there is
To raise a flock of chickens,
And if they're stolen in the night
Producers raise the dickens.
They've a perfect right to fume and cuss—
We know just how they feel,
Our cans go, too, in broad daylight
Yet honest folks don't steal.
They go to Church and Sunday School
And every man's a man,
So if their conscience troubles them
- {-Dur n-ame's-stamped-on-the-can-?.) - -.
They'll have 'em filled and send 'em Home
And we will make it snappy
Sending them their fair returns
Then we can all be happy.

Jane was asked to speak recently at the
Ontario Pork Producers Conference at
Ridgetown College. Accepting the invita-
tion and opportunity to exchange ideas
with other hog farmers didn't take a great
deal of persuasion.
With her family, Jane has developed and
--maintained—an efficient --hog--operati
Husband Sam, an engineer with the On-
tario Ministry of Agriculture and Food,
and teenage children Derek and Diane, are
an integral part of her success.
"I learned to delegate responsibility to
give me more time to spend on breeding
and quality control," Jane admitted.
Arriving at the point of success in a far-
ming business often relies on financing
and knowing how and when to get started.
In this case, the Bradshaws, with Jane at
the helm, have endured and, n ..cceeded.

Jane smiled.
Pushing her chair back from the table,
Jane proved her ability to delegate.
Grinning she asked, "Want to help with
the chores?"
