Effort by bantam B's pays, off
The Lucknow Bantam B's have added
one tie and two more wins to their playoff
roster. They now have a total of four wins,
one tie and one loss.
Lucknow 3 - Goderich 3
The second game in Goderich ended in a
3 - 3 tie. Derek Turner opened the scoring
when .defenceman Donnie Cuillerier came
from .behind the net .and put it onto
Turner's 'stick. Tom Hogan put a nice pass
over to Dennis Johnstone who shot it nice
and low for the second. Goderich tied the
game and they went to the dressing room
tied2-2.
With the minutes winding down, Warren
Andrew took the assist on the tie goal as he
hit Vince Sticklend with a pass from the
faceoff. Sticklend made no mistkae on this
one and put the tieing goal away with 2:26
left on the clock.
Lucknow 8 - Milverton°0
Their next game against Milverton turn-
ed in a 8 - 0 score with a shut -out going to
Joel Sutton. Gavin Hunter opened the ,scor-
ing as he bounced one up the net minders
pads and over, assisted by Lyndon
Johnstone. Sticklend put a nice pass on An-
drew's stick for the second and Doug Helm
netted the third when Sticklend took the
puck -behind the net and passed to
defenceman Marvin Kikkert, who put -it in
r
front for Iiehn. Derek Turner was out in
front for the next assisted by 'Torre Hogan
and Hunter.
Andrew .put the next away assisted by
Kikkert. Hogan helped out Turner on the
sixth goal, Sticklend put the seventh away
assisted by Andrew and Andrew netted the
eighth unassisted.
Lucknow 8 - Wingham 1
The next game was another big win for
Lucknow against Wingham with a score of
8-1.
Andrew opened the scoring for Lucknow
on a break away right from the faceoff. He
also netted the second from the slot on a
pass from Helm. Hunter was next, assisted
by Cuillerier and Dennis Johnstone was in
the right place for the next assisted by
Helm.
Hunter proceeded down the ice from the
faceoff for the fifth and got his own re-
bound for the sixth.
Peter Reavie blasted one from the blue
line, assisted by Rob Crich and Helm
finished it off for ,the night assisted by
Reavie and r • 's Johnstone.
This team is working very hard with for-
wards and defence racking up the points.
Every single player has produced a lot of
effort and .hopefully it will continue and
they will win the championship.
Lan cers drought ends
as Guay stops Roosters
The Lucknow Lancers ended a long
drought over the weekend as they downed
Ripley Roosters 5 - 2 in the fifth and
deciding game of their playoff series.
Art (lark put the Lancers ahead to stay
in the first period as Lucknow took a one
goal lead into the dressing room.
The second period saw the Lancers add
three more goals against Ripley's single
tally, for a 4 -1 lead.
Grant Gilchrist scored twice and Steve
MacPherson had the other Lancer goal
while Mark Stanley replied for the
Roosters.
The third period saw Lucknow's
puckstopper Ray Guay, steal the show as
he halted an endless attack of rampant
Roosters as the Lancers held on for a 5 - 2
victory. Steve MacPherson scored his se-
cond goal of the game and Jeff Stanley
scored the final Rooster goal..
Wednesday night in Lucknow the
Atom A's win WOAA "DD"
Teeswater Atoms arrived in Lucknow
February 23 for game three of the WOAA
Atom DD playoff series. Lucknow, up two
games, was anxiousto finish the series and
Teeswater was equally keen to take one
away on from the home team.
'The good crowd in attendance saw
Teeswater outhustle the' local lads early in
the:game, but as the first period closed out
Lucknow seemed to pick up their stride.
Beth teams came close, :but never manag-
ed to beat either goalie, ending the first
period scoreless.
Period two saw end-to-end play with
'Teeswater's Jason McDonald putting his
team up one.
.Lucknow never gave up and managed to
keep Teeswater off the scorebord until
Eric 'Andrew scored from Jeff Porter and
Darcy MacDonald, to finish period two
WO a 1-1 tie, setting the stage for an ex-
citing third period.
Both teams were out for the tie breaker
and .after good saves at both ends, .good

passing and fast skating, MacDonald put
his team ahead when he was successful in
beating the Teeswater goalie.
The remaining 13 minutes were
scoreless bufaction-packed. Jamie Snow,
once.again, looked great in the net making
several key saves. The boys on defence
were able to hug the blue line and keep the
puck up to the forwards who had several
more good shots, but were unable to beat
Teeswater goalie McKee.
Final score Lucknow 2 - Teeswater 1.
It was a happy group of lads that rolled
over the boards to congratulate fellow
team mates and line up :to :receive their
crests and the trophy for the WOAA Atom
DD championship. They now advance to
OMHA quarter finals and those details are
incomplete.
Congratulations to all of the players who
have worked throughout the season and :to ,
the coaches, George Adams and Dan Mac-
Donald, and trainer Bill Andrew, for their
guidance during the season.

visitors came out flying and built up a 4 - 0
lead after one period with Dan Wilken
scoringittvo and Carl Stanley and Kevin
Stewart adding one each. The Lancers got
back on track in the second with Grant
Gilchrist and Steve Alton cutting the lead
in half but Kevin Stewart added one more
for Ripley as the second ended 5 - 2.
The Lancers made a game of it in the
third with goals from Steve Simpson and
Wayne Phillips narrowing the lead to 5 - 4
with five minutes left in the game. The
visitors held on though as the Lancers fial-
ed to score with an extra attacker and it
was on to game five in Ripley.
The Lancers now meet Milverton in the
next round with game one in Lucknow Fri-
day night, game two in Milverton Sunday
and the third game in Lucknow the follow-
ing Wednesday.
The Lancer's own Steve Simpson was
awarded a trophy for being the leading
scorer in the intermediate division.
Novices threeand three in playoffs
On February 7 the Lucknow Novice
hosted Wingham with the first score, 6-1
for Lucknow.
Jton-and- ig-ffat-
led the scoring with two goals and one
assist each. Ean Moffat had one goal and
one assist, Taylor Mali one goal, and Jor-
dan Andrew had one assist. ,
On February 13 Lucknow travelled to,
Walkerton and lost with the final score
Walkerton 4 Lucknow 0. The next night
Lucknow hosted Walkerton and didn't fare
much better with Walkerton winning 4-1.

On February 18 Lucknow travelled to
Hanover to play the Hanover Evans team.
The -final score was Hanover 1 Lucknow 0.
On February 21 the same Ilanover team
came. toiucknow and`Lucknow turned the
tables this time winning by a final score of
5.2.

On February 25 Lucknow travelled to
Hanover to play the Hanover Optimists
No. 2 team and played a very good defen-
sive game.
Jay J. Humphrey provided the solid
goaltending and centreman Craig Moffat
led the scoring with one goal and two
assists. Also . scoring for Lucknow were
Chad Freeman, Jordan Andrew and Ean
Moffat making the final score Lucknow 4
Hanover 0.
Lucknow's next home game was against
this same Hanover team last night but
results unavailable by press time. Play-off
record to date is three wins and three
losses.

The Atom A's left early last Saturday for
a WOAA tournament in Wiarton and were
successful in bringing home another con-
solation trophy, medallions and crests.
Lucknow vs Normanby :cyton
The first game was against ar old rival,
Normanby-Ayton with Lucknow coming
out on the losing end of a 7 - 3 game.
The Normanby team skated strong and..
were supported by super goaltending to
give them the victory.
The entire Lucknow team turned in a
good effort against this superior team.
Lucknow vs Tiverton
Tiverton skated out to face Lucknow in
game two, but Lucknow r showed deter-
mination throughout the game to come
away with a 5 2 victory.
Lucknow appeared to be the stronger
team throughout the game. Tiverton's
goalie made many saves for his team and
in the process, challenged Lucknow

Lucknow vs Wiarton
With only a very short break between
games, Lucknow skated back on the ice to
meet the hometown Wiarton Warlords for
the consolation. championship.
Wiarton.appeared as a good-sized team
but had difficulty in keeping up with
Lucknow skaters. Lucknow dominated
periods .w and two until late in the se-
cond, when Wiarton found the opening to
put one away.
Lucknow, looking tired, seemed to slow
down as the game came to a close, all this
giving Wiarton some good opportunities.
The game closed Lucknow 4 - Wiarton 1.
The Atoms await notice of their impen-
ding first game of OMHA quarter finals.

Pe€Wees win "Dr)" championship
The Lucknow Pee Wee series with
Chesley came without any problems.
Lucknow won three games straight, with
scores of 8-2, 10-2 and 8-2,
The PeeW,ees then came up .against
Teeswater for the Western Ontario finals.
Teeswater proved to be a .:little tougher
competition.
'Tice first game was in Lucknow on
February 17 with the hometown boys :winn-
ing 4 - 1). The first goal scored :by M tt
Drennan on a pass from Chad Hiller. Clint
Murray scored the, :second goal assisted by
rr 1 Gibson lin HHurnphrey tallied the
Vithassist to Adrian 'IIelmand Steve
Adams got the fourth marker off the stick
of Clint Murray.
The ;second game in Teeswater
February 20, forced Lucknow to `play
strong hockey to bring .a horse a 3 -2 win.
Poiret getters were Clint Murray :with two
goals .and one assist, Matt Drennan with a
goal and Paul Kikkert and Steve Porter
two assists each.
Teeswater wasn't about to give up
without a fight and came back to win the
third game 2 -1 in Teeswater. Clint Mur-
ray
urray ,got the only Lucknow goal assisted by
Darryl Gibson.
Determined to end the series, the
LucknowPeeWees played hockey like they
know how in the fourth gameand came out
with a ;;- 2 win. The boys pl,yed well with
everyong sharingthe load.

svn, Dan Kerr and Scott Rintoul each hav-
ing one goal and one assist; Clint ,Murray
with one goal; and Matt Drennan and
Steve Porter, one assist each.
The boys are now readyo move on to
the All Ontario quarter finals against Col-
