`CATS', 19th birthday present
n
BY TERRY HUNT
Yours truly, Joye and our daughter Cherie
took off on Saturday morning, bright and
early for Toronto. Joye had managed to get
three tickets for a matinee performance of
"CATS" at Massey HalL This was Cherie's
19th birthday present and no expense was to
be spared. Twenty minutes out of Ripley,
Cherie was asleep in the back seat. This is
normal. In fact I was surprised she lasted
that long. We found a parking spot on Vic-
toria St. just around the corner from the
theatre and paid $10 deposit, that was the
last wesaw of that $10. We had about three
quarters of an hour to kill before the show
started so we stopped for coffee and a
sandwich.
Having found our seats in the second
baleen ,..tled looking around the place, im-
ne my su' p vise when I saw sitting on the
ross the aisle to us none other than
L)avA,-®n and his wife. The show
end we were kept entertained by
the best Canadian talent you could
imagine. The music and dancing was ex-
cellent
xcellent and I advise , nybody to go see the
show.
Aft, -
sn lw we went to the Silver Rail
"ly supper, not too expensive,
well sem/L.4.1 dud very good food. Then it was
back to Ripley. Cherie was asleep by the
time we hit the 401, and awoke at Ripley,
what a way to travel. I wish 1 could do the
same. Just to finish a perfect day, we arriv-
ed
rrived home at 9:45 pm in time to catch the last
period of the Leafs game on TV and even
they didn't let me down. Goes to show that
life's pleasures can be simple. .
On "Tuesday Feb. 14 a red heart was seen
around the .streets df Ripley. It was Jan
Fludder all dressed up as a valentine. She
R IPLEY
had been up to the Senior Citizens' apart-
ments
partments giving out valentine hugs. I hope
there is someone as thoughtful as you are
Jan when I decided to spend my time up
there terrorizing the staff and visitors alike.
On Wednesday night there was a fire at
the Township garage, a grader and a tractor
were lost in the fire.
Went to Toronto Convention
Mrs. Sadie McLeod and Mrs. Mary Scott
attended the Ontario Division of the Ar-
thritis Society Convention recently held at
the Novotel Toronto Centre in downtown
Toronto.
The guest speaker was Dr. Darryll
Ogilvie -Harris, an orthopedic surgeon at
Toronto Western Harris, who spoke on
"Implants".
The delegates also bad a tour of the
Wellesley Hospital Rheumatic Disease Unit,
which was most interesting.
Went to Ringette Tournament
Bobby Cameron visited with Don and
Judy Campbell and family of Kitchener (the
former . Judy Rutledge of Ripley) last
weekend, and attended Jodie Campbell's
Ringette tournament and had a most en-
joyable time.
