Luekaow 4 - Teeswater 3
On February X4 Lueknow Atoms travell-
ed to Teeswater for game one of this
series. Lucknow skated .a sluggish .first
period but managed to hold Teeswater off
the scoreboard. Goalie Jamie Snow grabb-
ed the puck several times to keep his team
in the game.
The Teeswater goalie ' played equally
well at the opposite end of the rink.
The second period produced some faster
plays, saw more passing by both teams
and finally Lucknow's Jeff Porter slid the
puck under the Teeswater goalie on a pass
from Colin Becker. This put Lucknow up
one.
Teeswater came back to tie the game.
The second period closed on a 1-1 tie.
Lucknow came out in the third and
played their best period of the game, firing
in three quick goals. These all came after
some good passing, stick handling and
solid defense.
Those scoring were Mike Johnston with
Jeff Porter assisting; Eric Andrew all
alone and Eric Andrew from David Adams
and Mike .Johnston.
Teeswater applied terrific pressure and
put up some excellent passes firing in two
quick goals to come within one of a tie
game.
Lucknow lads desperately tried to con-
trol the play as the clock slowly ticked off
theast seconds.
Teeswater pulled their goalie an
a sixth attacker. Jamie Snow gra
bouncing puck at the corner of the net t
rob Teeswater of a tie. Lucknow
the puck into the empty net as the final
buzzer rang.
The long layoff after Paisley-Lucknow
series evidently took it's toll on the
Lucknow team. In contrast, Teeswater
having just finished their series with
Chesley, rolled right along throughout
game one.

Teeswater arrived in Lucknow on
February 16 for the second game in this
series.
'Lucknow opened up the scoring with
Eric Andrew slipping the puck behind the
Teeswater .goalie. Teeswater tied the
gee within a minute of Eric's goal.
Lucknow once again bounced back to
take the lead with 45 seconds remaining in
the first period.
With defenceman David Adams hurt and
off the ice for part .of the second period,
Teeswater applied intense pressure and
sunk two quick goals to put Teeswater up
3-2.
Eric Andrew scored from David Adams
and Mike Johnston to put the game at a tie
to close the second period.
The third period opened with Lucknow
once again taking the lead when Eric An-
drew beat the Teeswater goalie for his hat
trick. He was assisted by Jeff Porter and
Mike Puddy.
Mike Johnston then scored on a nice pass
from Jeff Porter. This put the home town
up two but Teeswater come back again to
come within one goal of a tie.
Anxious fans waited for the final buzzer
as. Lucknow managed to hold on to their
one goal lead and come away with their se-
cond win of this series.
The next game is Feb. 23 in Lucknow at -7
pm. It should be another exciting one as
Teeswater certainly plays a good passing
game. Goalie Jamie Snow made some
brilliant saves to keep Lucknow in the
game right to the end. Defenceman David
Adams was able to skate the third period
and hopefully will be able to play in game
three.
Eantam B's, two wins and a loss
The Lucknow Bantam Bs have a record
of two wins 'and one loss in their first three
playoff games.
The second game against Clinton
'resulted in .a;loss with a score of 4-2. Tom
Hogan put in the first on a nice back hand
shot assisted by Doug Helm. Gavin Hunter
blew one over the Clinton net minder for
the second.
The . first game against Goderich was
very exciting as Goderich kept coming
from behind to tie the game. Peter Reavie
was in the right place for the first goal,
assisted by Warren Andrew and less than
three minutes later Marvin Kirkkert net-
ted the second, assisted once more by
Andrew.
Goderich come back with twos goals for
the tie, but Dennis, Johnstone, who was
really fired up, put another away Ofor
Lucknow, assisted by Tom Hogan.
Goderich retaliated once more and the
teams went to the dressing rootn tied up
after two periods.
Goderich .scored at 9:19 of the third and
moved ahead of Lucknow 4-3. Dennis
Johnstone wanted no part of that and took
a pass from the stick of Donnie Cuilleriier
.and tied for Lucknow. With the' minutes
winding down on the clock, Tom Hogan
took a pass from Marvin Kikkert and shot
a nice low, hard one for the win.

tie back in Lucknow. Teeswater jumped
out to an early two nothing lead but
Lucknow battled'back througout the game
to lead the game 3 - 2 into the last minute of
play in regulation time.
Goal scorers -for Lucknow were Justin
Murray from Brad Rhody and Mike
Vandervelde unassisted and Chris Steven-
son from Dale Priestap.
Teeswater kept pressing and forced
Lucknow into some penalties. With
Lucknow playing two men short in the last
minute, Teeswater tied the game with
eight seconds to go to force overtime.
Lucknow went ahead again on a goal by
Justin Murray from Stevenson, but
Teeswater socred again to tie it up with
just over a minute to go.
This will be a real close contest to see
who will represent the W.O.A.A. in All On-
tario play.
Lucknow Bantam A team is in a real bat-
tle for the W.O.A.A. Bantam DD
championship.
In the opening game of the series in
Teeswater, Lucknow jumped out toan ear-
ly 2 -0 lead on goals .by ,Justin Murray from
Chris Stevenson and Russell Sutton, Matt
Sproul from Brad Rhody and Duane
Porter.
A4defensive'.lapse, with three seconds to
go in the second period, let Teeswater get
on the score board before the break.
In the third period, Teeswater outwork-
ed and out scored Lucknow two to one, en-
ding regulation time tied at three.
Lucknow's goal was scored by Chris
Stevenson from Justin Murray.
Teeswater socred once in the ten minute
overtime to take the win and lead the
series by one game.

Lancers leading in Ripley series

The Lucknow Lancers hold a two game
to one lead in their best of five series with
Ripley following weekend action.
The Lancers won their first game last
Wednesday with Steve MacPherson scor-
ing midway through the second overtime
period. Pat Murray led the Lancer attack
with three goals, ,including: the tieing goal
late in the game to force :overtime. 'Stott
Gibson and Paul Maclntyre :also :scored
while Dave Macl, Dan .MacDonald,
Kevin Stewart and Mitch Solan replied
for Ripley.
Friday night the team took to the ice in
Ripley as the Roosters led right from the
PUBLIC HEARING
start on a 5 - 2 victory. Dave Gibson and
Allan Eadie scored for Lucknow while Carl
Stanley, Brent Armstrong, Mitch Twolan
and - Kevin Stewart with two scored for
Ripley.
Both teams were looking to take the
series lead on Sunday in Ripley, where the
Lancers squeaked by the Roosters 5 - 4.
Dave Gibson gave the Lancers a one goal
:lead after one period of play, but the
Roosters fought back with three goals in
the seoned, as the teams went to the locker
room tied3 1.
