Henrietta Stewart held a baby shower at
her home in the village for Kim Simpson,
on January 31.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ross of Waterloo spent
the weekend of February 4 with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Ross. ,

Mrs. Agnes Farrier gave the call to wor-
ship at the February meeting of the
Whitechurch United Church Women, held
in the home of Mrs. John Nielson.
The topic World Outreach was taken by
Mrs. Farrier, Hazel Laidlaw and
Margaret Sleightholm.
Mrs. Sleightholm read the scripture and
Mrs. Laidlaw led in prayer.
Mrs. Farrier and Mrs. Sleightholm read
from a paper called World Food Day,
followed by a litany of confession.
Rev. Nielson showed a video on the study
of South Africa telling of the hardships of
the black people and their struggle for a
better way of living.
Mrs. Farrier gave an account of the
Presbyterial meeting in Goderich and
read thank you notes from a number of
projects the group supports.
The rollcall was answered by 11
members naming the church they were
baptized in and the minister's name.
Following the offering and least coin,
Rev. Neilson closed with prayer.
Mrs. Richard Christie; Elizabeth, Elaina
and EMily of Kitchener visited on Satur-
day with Mr. and Mrs. Don Ross.
Mr. and Mrs .DAvid`Ross-visited omSur-
day with Mr. and Mrs. Mike Slack and
family in Owen Sound.
The United Church, Whitechurch held
their congregation annual meeting Tues-
day evening January 24 with 11 present.
Rev. John Neilson opened the meeting
with scripture followed by prayer. Mr.
Neilson was appointed chairman and Mrs.
Walter Moore secretary for the evening.
Reports from every phase of church
work were given and approved, with all ob...
jectives being met. The auditors report,
given by Clifford Laidlaw, stated that all
books are in order. He thanked the
treasurer for her excellent work.
The mission and service fund objective
hasbn raised for 1989. It was agreed that
the observer every family plan will con-
tinue with Agnes Farrier, being in charge
of subscriptions.
A thank you note was received from
Karen Elliott, thanking the church for its

Mr. Neilson for his excellent leadership
during the past year. Thanks were ex-

Institute Meeting
The February meeting of the
Whitechurch Women's Institute was held
on February 9 at the home of Mrs. Jas.
Wilson in Wingham.
President Helen Currie opened the
meeting with a poem Word to Live By.
Opening ode and Mary Stewart collect
were given.
The minutes were read from last month
by Agnes Farrier.
Business was dealt with, and a workshop
called Cooking for One to be given in
Walkerton Presbyterian on February 27
was discussed with a motion by Jean Tif-
fen to send Marjorie Wall and Merle
Wilson as leaders and to bring it back to
demonstrate to the rest of.theiadies,_-
Tentative plans for a Dessert Euchre in
April with Jean Ross, Brenda Day, Norma
Rintoul, and Agnes Farrier as a
committee.
The motto given by Mrs. Wilson was
The more we give, the more we get'. She
said give to the world your best, and the
best will come back to you.
The guest speaker Mrs. Jean Mathers of
Bluevale was introduced by Mrs. Wilson.
She had spent a month last year in New
Zealand. She said their hay isn't like ours
here, it is called June grass and is baled in
big round bales, and stored under trees.
The second, language in New Zealand is
Chinese.
Merle Wilson conducted a heart contest,
which was won by Agnes Farrier. •
Fourteen answered the roll call with a
recipe exchange using a dairy product.
The March meeting will be held at Merle
Wilson's home in Wingham.
Agnes Farrier read an article called
Who is a Senior Citizen.
