Montgomery Motors Limited, Lucknow,
has come long way in 40 years.
Gordon Montgomery purchased the
business from Ed Renwick in 1948 and the
the Ford dealership has continued to grow
over the years, both in sales of new and us-
ed cars and service to all makes of trucks
and cars.
While Mr. Montgomery purchased the
business in '48, due to a quoto system, the
first new cars he sold were '49's.
Originally, Montgomery's sold cars,
trucks and tractors. The tractor shop was
on Inglis Street and was subsequently sold
to Stuart Reavie.
In February 1988, Montgomery Motors
Limited, Lucknow moved into new
premises just west of its original location.
Ian Montgomery, president and
manager of Montgomery's is very proud of
the way the business has grown, from ap-
proximately five employees in 1948 to
twelve fulltime employees in 1989; from
the small garage up the street to their
large new facilities, equipped with the
latest service equipment, such as "The
Bear".
"The Bear," offers customers a com-
puter printout, analyzing their engine pro-
blems. It is essential to our repair work,
eliminating the guess_ work in. the highly
technological cars of today," said Ian.
During the demolition of the former
building that housed the business, an old
poster was found from 1915. Prices quoted
were : Ford Touring Car $530, Ford
Runabout $480, Town Car $780. These
prices were F.O.B. Ford, Ontario, effec-
tive August 2, 1915. "No speedometer in-
cluded in this years equipment, otherwise
