Over, the last week the .Lucknow Legion
midgets played Paisley "three games in
their best of five series. This was certainly
a thrilling series with, each game going
down to the final minutes.
Lueknow 3 -Paisley 6
Lucknow travelled to Paisley Monday
evening with the series tied at one. This
turned out to be the roughest game of the
series with 25 minor penalties and five
misconducts being assessed before
Paisley came out on top.
Paisley opened the scoring when they
were left alone in front of goalie Jonathan
Nelson and were able to get several shots
away before finally putting one in.
Donnie Garnmie answered for Lucknow
on a blue line blast that handcuffed the
goaltender. The assist went to Scott Gib-
son. Lucknow then went ahead when Gam-
mie fed Scott Gibson in front and Rod
Crich fired in the rebound.
Paisley then tied the game after stripp-
ing the puck away from a defender at the
side of the net and putting the puck past
Nelson.
Lucknow went ahead on a pass back by
Crich to the blue line where Matt Rhody
scored. Matt did an outstanding defensive
job even though he was evidently in pain
with an injured knee.
The third opened with the score again
tied when Jamie Johnston fed a lead pass
to Gibson, who skated in and beat the
goalie with a clean shot.
_ With Paisley pressing hard, the bo
failed to clear the puck and the game was
tied - with only 27 seconds left when the
puck deflected in off a skate.
Overtime saw Lucknow control the ice
but an unlucky bounce and an empty net
allowed Paisley to end the game up two.
Lucknow 5 -Paisley 3
Back in Lucknow Friday evening the
boys controlled all three periods and carne
out with a win and the series again tied.
Gammie, Gibson and Crich opened the
scoring for Lucknow, jumping quickly on,
the puck.
Paisley then put the puck past
goaltender Paul Heim on a very sharp -
angled shot . that squeezed into the net.
Paisley went into the lead skating in un-
molested to cut across the front of Heine
and put the puck up and away.
Lueknow then came storming back with
three unanswered goals. Two of these were
off the stick of Rod Crich, assisted by Kent
Campbell, and one from Gammie again
assisted by Campbell.
Paisley again beat Helm on a well ex-
ecuted pass in front, but this was
countered on another passing play With
Crich assisting Gammie.
Lueknow 3 -Paisley 4
The deciding game was played back in
Paisley and was another seesaw game that
finally saw Paisley win. the series.
Lucknow took a two goal lead in thetfirstm
on a three way passing play with Gamie
scoring from Gavin Hunter and Bantam
Rob Crich and again from the stick of
Gavin Hunter picking up a rebound
assisted by MikArenburg and another
Bantam Justin Murray.
Late in the period Paul Helm again in
goal seemed to have, trouble handling a
long shot and Paisley showed the puck in.
The second period was hard skating and
scoreless until a puck got through traffic in
front and may have deflected off .a skate
boys
.past-thetscreened Helm
Lucknow took an early third period lead
with Rod Crich taking a pass at the side of
the net from Gammie and Gibson. Paisley
tied the game when goalie helm came out
to play the puck and gave Paisley an emp-
ty net goal. The winner carne with only a
few minutes left and a well set up pass into
the slot.
Thank you boys for an entertaining
series and your hard work.
