Several members of St. Joseph's
Catholic Women's League travelled to Oar
Lady =of Perpetual Help ,irrn lHesson on
February 6 to take -part in their fun night.
The ladies entertained with skits and songs
and Thoroughly .enjoyedthe evening Whielh
featured other entertainment as well. The
St. Joseph's Entertainers were Eileen
Wilson, Betty Lou Dalton, Shirley Marti ,
Virginia Stright and Laurie Dalton.
Bible study classes continue each Thurs-
day evening in the school. To help in
preparation for the Easter season -during
this time of Lent, new participants are en-
couraged to come out and join in these
studies.
Belated congratulations to Jennifer
Tigert for her success in the Legion's
Remembrance Day Literary Contest. At
the local level, :through the Lucknow
Legion, Jennifer won first place and a
prize of $15.00 while at the next level Jen-
nifer placed second and won a further
$20.00.
For The past several weeks the students
in grades 4-8 have been busy preparing
and giving speeches in preparation for the
school public speaking contest which was
held on February 8. The six participants
from the Grade 7/8 class who progressed
to the finals in the gym were Jane Brophy,
Joe Dalton, Joyelle Foran, Heidi Martin,
Amy Olson and Jennifer 'Tigert.

Those from the Grade 5/6 class Who went
on were Colleen Dalton, Elizabeth Dalton,,
Lisa Dykstra, Erin -Hickey, Becky Martin
and Kim Willson.
From Grade 4the participants were Lori
Dykstra, Amanda Hickey and Beau Riegl-
ing. Congratulations to all the participants
both within the class and to those who pro-
gressed to the second level.
The winners from the above participants
were: Intermediate (7/8); Jennifer Tigert,
first, who. spoke on Hypnosis; second,
Heidi' Martin on The Trials of Moving and
third, Jane Brophy who spoke on Dreams.
From the Junior (4, 5, 6) Level the winners
were : first, Elizabeth Dalton whose topic
was Forgetting; second, Becky Martie
who spoke on Our Computer and third,
Erin -Hickey on Computers.
The first and second place finishers go
on to the zone finals which will be held at
Sacred Heart School in Wingharn on
February 17. 'Congratulations all and good
luck to those advancing.
On Monday, February 13 Father Ed
began saying masses in the school gym for
the Lenten season. Mass time is 11:50 a.m.

The February meeting of Wingham
Voice for Life was held at Sally Campeau's
house. Jim Bakelaar opened the meeting
with prayer.
Plans for the annual meeting were
discussed. The dinner meeting will be held
April 26 in Wingham withBev Hadland as
guest sneaker.
Voice for Life memberships are now
due. These -memberships should be renew-
ed annually

Campaign Life Coalition is planning a
Pro -Life day at Midland Martyr's Shrine
on June 18.
Itwas decided to support the hiring of an
all Ontario co-ordinator to be based in
Southern Ontario.
Jim reminded the group to continue
writing to members of Parliament about
the .desire to obtain a new .anti -abortion
legislation. Onemust considerthe-rights of
the unborn child in any:government laws.
Last week Lucknow residents saw the
opening of a new business in the village.
Gail Ulch of Dungannon opened tier
unisex hairstyling (for men and women) ,
Mirror Images. The business is located in
the former Hair Creations location.
Gail trained at Marvel's in London and
prior to moving to this area worked as a
hairdresser in that city.
Gail and her husband, Ron, have two
children; Karl who is four and Cassandra,
one year old.
Mirror Images is a welcome addition to
the business community.
Hours are 'Monday to Wednesday, 9 -6 by
appointment; Thursday and Friday, 1 - 9
with no appointment necessary; Saturday
by appointment.
