In the Lucknow Sentinel of December 14 the headline on page 5 said "Looking for Louise." In the letters to the editor there was a request for information about Louise MacDonald from Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bibby, Kitchener. Through the efforts of the Luck now Sentinel he was able to make contact and a couple of weeks ago, Mr. and Mrs. Bibby came up to visit with Louise MacDonald who has been a resident of Pinecrest Manor for the past year. He had been her sergeant in the R.C.A.F. and it was around 42 years since he had any contact with her. While visiting at Pinecrest they contacted Louise's sister, Sally in Windsor via the telephone and talked with her. It was a very happy reunion! Mr. and Mrs. Ken Harman have made quite a change hi their stores as they have moved the shoes into the samller store on the west side and have all the clothing on display where the shoes had been. Mrs. Neil McCallum, a resident of Pinecrest celebrated her 98th birthday, February 6, at her daughter's home, Donalda Moffat. Present for the happy oc- casion with their mother and Bert and UCKNOW by Mildred Loree Donalda were Jean Conley and Nell and Cliff Johnston. Happy birthday, Mrs. McCallum! A funeral service for William Wareing, formerly of Ashfield, was held in Hamilton on Saturday. Several from this area attended. Home for the weekend with her parents Gordon and Bernice Johnstone, were Bob, Marion and Matthew McComb of Castleton. A grease fire can go a long way to ruin your day. If you have one, cover the burn- ing pan with a lid, or use an extinguisher with a rating that includes the letter "B". Turn off. the heat. Slide the pan off the hot burner. Leave the lid on until the pan is cool. It is wise to contact the fire depart- ment just in case the fire has spread through vents into the, attic area. Q. Is there a direct link between smoking and heart disease? A. Yes! Smokers have a much higher risk of dying from heart disease and stroke than non-smokers. How does what I eat relate to my chances of having a heart attack or stroke? A. If you eat fatty foods - such as butter, whole milli, ice cream, cream cheeses - or use saturated oil in cooking, your body is taking in too much fat. Eating these foods can lead to a build-up of fatty deposits in the arteries of your heart. Clogged arteries are the leading causeof heart attack and stroke. When your blood pressure is too high, it places an increased strain on the heart as it pumps blood through the body. INA blood pressure can result in an enlarged heart, congestive heart failure, hardening of the arteries, heart attack, stroke or kidney disease. Physical signs includes chest discom- fort, fatigue, nausea, sweating and short- ness hortness of breath. The most important factor to Watch out for is psychological one, denial - not admitting that you could be having a heart attack. If you have any of these symptoms, you should tell someone and seek help right away. It could save your life! Q. What is the difference between a heart attack and a stroke? A. Simply Out, when the blood flow is cut off in an artery in the heart, a heart attack occurs. Q. Is exercise important in preventing heart attacks. A. Yes. Regular' exercise is part of a healthy lifestyle. In a physically fit body, the heart, lungs and blood vessels work more efficiently. Tripartite pays lamb producers Lamb producers enrolled in the National Tripartite Price Stabilization Program will soon receive their second quarterly payment under the program. A total of about $200,000 is being paid to 600 producers in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. The payment was announced Jan. 25 by the National Stabilization Committee of producers and representatives from the federal and provincial governments: All participating producers in these five provinces are eligible for a payment of ,$12.59 per lamb sold in the fourth quarter of the production year, Sept. 1 to Nov. 30, 1988. A stabilization payment is triggered when the market price drops below the support price calculated under the tripar- tite agreement. • The national average weighted lamb price in the fourth quarter of 1988 dropped below the support price of $88.91 per hun- dredweight to $76.32•, triggering the $12.59 a head payment. This payment will help stabilize returns to the lamb industry in the face of lower lamb prices and North American drought- related roughtrelated increased. in grain costs. Under the 10 -year agreement signed in 1986, producers and both levels of govern- ment contribute equally to the tripartite stabilization fund.
