This week we have all been scientists!
We had six science centers that we all had
a chance to experiment at. The centers
were sink and float, magnets,
microscopes, light and .heavy, soft -and
hard, and measuring with sand. We cer-
tainly found that experimenting is fun. We
made a big book all about it that we will
share with our parents.
Grade One
In our family unit, we hive been think-
ing about our homes, the fun we have with
our relatives and about our feelings. We
are trying to make people feel good with
"warm fuzzies". We are writing a bait
called "I Have °Feelings". We tried "Math
Race" on the computers, and some ,of us
could beat "Chips" with our fast number
facts. Justin was "Special Me" this week
and brought lots of things to share with us. -
Grade Two
Grade two would like to thank Mr. and
Mrs. Lash for allowing us to view their
slides of the moon. They helped us see
'what the moon is really like. Michael,
Ainsley, Amy and Jayme had the ex -
tion. Thanks Mr..Sutherland. It was lots -of
fun.
Grade Two/Three
Congratulations to Kelly Doelman and
}leather MacDonald for winning the
Library Lotto draw. Everyone has been
working at subtraction - grade two work-
ing with double numbers, grade three
working at regrouping. On Friday we en-
joyed our special hour with Mr. Pike. We
were awarded this time for being chosen
"Class of the Month". .
Gradelliree/Four
The students in grades three and four
have certainly not been hibernating this
winter. The grade four students have been
busylinisbingtheirworkerimidtiplication

about'dinosaurs. Grade threeis amtinuhig

grown African elephants? Think of that the
.next lime you, are shovellingthe driveway!
R's that time of year again! Speeches! We
are busy writing our masterpieces this
week so that we can say them tothe class.
Maybe we will be able to say them in the
gym too! Have a great week, readers! If
the winter is starting to get you down, just
remember that the days are getting longer
and soon spring will be here.
Grade Four
Wow! 'What a busy week in grade four.
We had our Environmental Studies test on
Canada. Everyone ,did very well! In health
we have been studying nutrition. Some of
us have decided that we havea very large
sweet tooth! We are doing experiments
with a variety of fOods to find out which
nutrients they contain. On 'Thursday, Mr.
Gordon Brindley visited our class and told
us all about auctions. He then conducted
an auction right in our room and wespent
our Bogus Bills -which we have been earn-
ing over the past two months. Thank you
very much to Mr. Brindley for taking time
out of his very busy schedule to visit our
class. •
Grade Five
We have Started a unit on Television. We
are thinking about the type of show we
would create - as well AS addressing the
catingmeeds. We have started oursecond
centersinBnvironmentid Studies. Things
look really well ,organized and neat. We
took ,a pcd1 and 'discovered that Arnold
Schw, artzenegger is our favorite actor ...
Mr. Bennett ,does mot know ,why. Second

Grade Seven
This week 'has been quite a busy week in
the Grade Seven room. We have been try
ing to finish our speeches, dthough some
of us already 'have. We have also been
reading short stories as well as answering
,questions.
Grade Eight
This week the grade eight class had to
finally make their final deristons for high
sehool next year! We realize that such
-decisions are very difficult to make, and
we hope that we have made the orrect
choice. Speeches are coming up so we are
doing a short unit on drama to help
prepare us for this hard MA.
-Family Studies
The Family Studies room has been very
busy with lots of different activities going
on. In grade six, they are finishing sewing
their personalized cooking aprons .and
some are also working on a 3.1.) self por-
trait using soft sculpture. In grade seven,
they had their last Meal. Some made Mex
ican food while others decided on Chinese.
In grade eight, they are tonstrueting
brochures of advice for parents and
teachers that deal with teens.
Library News '

RobSymes. He received his favourite book
- Curious George. Have you visited the
local library lately?
