St. Joseph's School has defied the odds
once again. For the second time this school
year, a senior girls' team has bested all the
other teams in the system to emerge as
champion.
This time the victory came in volleyball.
Two weeks ago at the zone finals at St.
Joseph's in Clinton, the girls emerged vic-
tor'ious and thus earned the right to travel
to the system finals being held at St. Am-
brose in Stratford, on Wednesday, Jan. 18,
featuring the best teams from each of the
zones in Huron -Perth.
These victories are a great accomplish-
ment for the team and coach, Phil Antonio
who also deserves much credit. St.
Joseph's is the second smallest school in
the Huron Perth Roman Catholic Separate
School area by way of enrollment.
Congratulations to Joyelle Foran, Tam-
my Hogan, Jane Brophy, Dawn Wilson,
Heidi Martin, Amy Olson, Nicole Sherratt
and Kim Wilson, who is a Grade six stu-
dent, and coach Phil Antonio.
In other school news, a lunch-time
monitor has been hired by the board to do
noon hour supervision at the school. Hired
for the position was Mrs. Shirley Knoep
with Mrs. Anna Lewis serving as a back-
up.
On Friday, Jan. 13 the Grade 7-8 . class,
with teacher Phil Antonio, travelled by bus
along with students from St. Mary's in
Goderich to Talisman to participate in a
day of downhill skiing. Needless to say,
everyone had :a wonderful time.
While the intermediate students were
enjoying their skiing experience, the rest
of the school, as part of their physical
education program were skating at the

arena in Goderich. On Jan. 2O all the
students participated in the skating in
Goderich.
The staff and students were saddened to
see two of the students transfer from the
school after the Christmas break. Best
wishes and good luck are extended to
Katrina and Jesse Collins in their new
school.
Recently receiving the sacrament of
baptism and welcomed to the family of
God at St. Joseph's was Elizabeth Anita,

Bible study classes are continuing each
Thursday evening in the school. Presently

the north and south around 1000 B.C. is be-
ing studied. For the first time unity among
the peoples following their entry into Ca-
naan was achieved. David went down in
