Xindergarten
Kindergarten have been talking about
snow and snowmen. We had hoped we
could buikl a snowman and enjoy playing
in the snow this week but the weatherman
did not co-operate. We are becoming very
good at recognizing and writing our
numbers to seven.
Grade One
Grade One washonoured to be chosen by
Mr. Pike as class of the month for
January. We hada special hour in the gym
as a reward for our good work. Chris and
Anger have been January "Special
Me's". We have finished making Frosty -
he looks good on our door with all his snow
words. We made beautiful snowflakes. In
Language we have been thinking of op-
posites and "th" and "sh" words.
Grade Two
We are enjoying .our study about the
moon. Everyone, inrhuling Mrs. Black, is
learning many new facts. In reading, we
are learning about an .author called
Mercer Mayer. We are enjoying reading
his books. Several people have earned
their Mercer Mayer reading badges.
Grade -lime
Congratulations td Cameron Moffat and
Jeff Cranston in winning the Library Lotto
draw - Good reading boys! We are busy
learning aboutthe -wild alliTTlaiS that live in
Bruce County. We have found out lots of in-
teresting information to share On Thurs-
day, a band from F. E. Madill visited our
school-and-provided-us-wat-same-soper--
nuisic On Friday, we enjoyed the book
"Bow Drodus the Dragon Lost his Head"
Then we decided we would make our own
booklet and dida great job.
Grade Three/Fonr
The students in Grade Three have been
surprised by some of the incredilile facts
they have learned at their "Winter
Center?' For example, did you know that
An parts of Siberia it's so cold that if you
pour boiling water from a kettle; it will
turn to ice before it hits the ground. (We
think we are fortunate tolive m Lucknow
where it just gets a little cold.) The
students wouldlike to share a few elm -kips
with you.

INSIDER
Grade Four has teen keeping busy with
their work on "Dinosamt." They have
been doing research in the library using
the card catalogue, indeses and en-
cyclopedias. Incredible facts have been
discovered.
Mr. Burldiart continues to keep our
curiosity in shape with his unit en
"Mystery Powders." Our parents have
been very helpful in assisting us in aur
search through the kitchen for certain
powders. Their patience is very
appreciated.
Grade Four
Another great week in Grade Four! We
are working hard at finishing our unit on
Canada. We have learned all kinds of in-
teresting things about our country. Our
Canadian geese are flying proudly in our
classroom and we have completed a
rhaliengingpuzzle map of Canada. We are
all studying hard for our Environmental
Studies test on Canada
Grade Five
Work is continuing on ourenvironmental
studiesprojects relative to the grouping of
plants. We have started fractions in math
We took a poll in hockey violence. We
discovered three of us thought fighting
should be disallowed, while 17 said fighting
is part of hockey and five didn't vote; 15
said thatbockey is not too violentile 10
aggreed1Mt it was too violent. Thanks to
Jeff Porter for bringing in the hockey
movie. Grade Six
We have been learning to divide with
decimals The dental inspection on Tiles -
day was a real mouth opener. Many
healthy teeth were vislble. In geography
we are studying the townships and impor-
tant trams and villages.
Grade Seven
This -week in Grade Seven we have been
working on editing. We also have com-
plete:I our group projects about native
history. We aketrying to improve our ohms
rules. We are looking forward to our ski
-trip in February.
