Industrial Training Advisory Committee
H.I.TA.C_) and Canada Employment and
Immigration Commission C_E.I.C. i of-
fers this 12 week training program in dairy
herd management.
In 1988, C_E.I.C. identified a critical
shortage of skilled farm workers for the
dairy industry. The dairy industry was
placed on a skills shortage list In
response, Centralia College has designed a
certificate program which combines
classroom and on-farm practical instruc-
tion in dairying. Participants study the
latest techniques of herd management in-
cluding breeding, feeding, care of animals,
and milking equipment operation and
maintenance. The on-farm experience pro-
vides an opportunity to practice specific
skills and view alternate management
styles.
