Novices tie Belmore
The Lucknow Novices hosted the team
from Belmore last Tuesday night and
following a hard fought contest, the first
win of the season still eludes the local boys.
The tight checking game left the teams
tied at two goals apiece.
Following a scoreless first period of
play, Jonathan MacKinnon finally broke
the barrier mid -way through the second
with a long, hard shot assisted by Mark
Stanley. With just 24 seconds left in the
middle period, Belmore tied the game at
one.
Belmore came on to take the lead 2 -1 at
the 13:24 mark of the third, however,
Lucknow tied the game again three
minutes later with an unassisted goal from
Jordon Andrew.
Both teams fought hard to break the
deadlock but the whistle sounded with the
score at 2 - 2.
This is the second time this season
Lucknow and Belmore have tied at 2 goals
each.
The Lucknow Novice team is being
coached this year by Steve Hackett. Steve
is getting help behind the bench from
assistant coaches Allan Andrew and Dave
MacKinnon.
Coaches and players alike are getting
anxious for the first big win of the season
and it will surely be found soon with the top
quality play being shown on the ice by the
Novices.
Bantams can't find a win
The Lucknow Bantam A's ran into some
tough competition this week. The team
took the ice for two games, one against
Kincardine, the other against Teeswater,
put just couldn't find a win.
The game with Kincardine saw the
Lucknow team offer a poor effort with the
final score ending 7 - 3 in favour df
Kincardine.
The Teeswater game saw Lucknow play
better but the Teeswater boys had the
edge. The final score in that one was 4 - 2
with Justin Murray and Rob Crich respon-
sible for the Lucknow scoring. Assists
were registered by Mike Vandervelde,
Terry Stanley and Stan Kikkert.
Bantam B's
The Lucknow Bantam B's travelled to
Clinton last week for a game of hockey but
had their hopes of playing dashed when
they it was discovered that a tournament
was in progress at the arena. Someone
neglected to tell the team and they were
forced to turn around and come home.
The Bantams will play their next home
game this Saturday at 4:30 p.m. against
Listowel.
