Estate Planning
One of the major crisis in a farm family is
the problem of transferring assets to the
next generation or selling the farm outright.
Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food
staff are available to help in the discussion.
Formal family meetings are a necessity
in gathering information and making deci-
sions. Accountants and lawyers are a
necessity in carryng out the decisions that
the family has made. The contribution that
OMAF can make comes before the accoun-
tant and lawyer stage. There is a good in-
formation booklet entitled "Farm Estate
Planning" available free of charge from
OMAF offices.
