Proceeds from Carolfest go to Christmas fund
By Tanya Sutherland
and Jennifer Cranston
Kindergarten
This week we were busy talking about all
kinds of animals and how they got ready
for winter. We made a squirrel and drew
many other animals.
We talked about numbers 4 and 5 this
week and we can all make these numbers.
We went outside to play on the nice days.
We are now getting excited about
Christmas and are learning some
Christmas songs.
Grade 1
All our boys and girls have enjoyed play-
ing Beachball Volleyball with their coun-
tries. Switzerland is ahead in points right
now. Our mouse centres are busy places in
the afternoon, with story writing, reading,
puppet making, mouse village, listening to
mice stories and painting mouse families.
"Special Me" Alicia had sad news this
week because her grandma died.
Justin and Mrs. Bell are celebrating bir-
thdays this weekend.
Grade 2
We have started a new unit on Japan. As
an introduction, Nao, a native of Japan
spent the afternoon with. us. He showed us
slides of his country and answered the
questions we had. We are looking forward
to his next visits. Nao is on exchange to
Canada and is living with Mr. McKeon in
Wingham.
Trevor brought in deer antlers for us to
see. They tied in nicely with the story they
had been reading about on Canadian
Animals.
Grades 2/3
• Yes, Yes, Yes, we .are Super Spellers.
Everyone in our classroom had perfect
spelling this week and we are proud.
A big Book Lotto was held on Wednesday
and Paula Kwan and Carrie Moffat were
our lucky winners.

`CPS INSIDER
Grades 3/4
The students of Grades 3 a .,14 have been
getting into the spirit of the' season by
working on Christmas research booklets.
Topics such as camels, evergreen trees,
reir 'Per,,, and the feeling of Christmas
have challenged their thinking skills.
Reindeer really do exist! Camels really
do have humps for a good reason! "Fir"
really can be a tree and not just the fuzzy
material on a kitten's back! We really can
taste, touch, smell, hear, and see
Christmas!
Grade 3 has finished with carrying in ad-
dition, while grade 4 is taking
multiplication.
Grade 4
Once again it has been a busy week here
in the grade 4 portable. Tommy Brindley
was our "Star of the Week". He brought in
some interesting tractors.
We started our Christmas centres and
we . are researching "The spirit of
Christmas - Past and Present".
Grade 5
We did a survey this week to find out
what would be our favorite doughnut shop.
We discovered that our favorite is Tim
Horton's. Second place goes to both Zehrs
and The Old Mill. Third place was a three
way tie between Donut Delight, Donuts
Galore and the Armstrong Bakery here in
town.
We are still reviewing our multiplication
because some of us need extra practice.
We had our first ice hockey game last
Thursday at the arena. It really went well.
We all felt like Wayne Gretzky.
Grade 6
In math we have been making prisms
