Bantam A's
The Lucknow Bantam A team has put
their first hockey tournament of the season
behind them with a championship win. The
deciding game of the tourney, which was
held in Clinton last weekend, saw Lucknow
meet Dorchester. The local boys battled to
a 5 - 4 decision for the tournament title.
The first game of the weekend tourney
saw Lucknow up against a tough team
from Watford. It was a hard hitting affair
from all reports, with the penalty box kept
busy from beginning to end.
Chris Stevensgn opened the scoring for
Lucknow and followed with two more
before the end of the first period Assists

nie Cuillerier.

Russell Sutton netted a beauty from the

Sproul; Justin Murray found the mark by
skating around the net and poking it in for

ray again on an unassisted blast from the
blueline which eluded the Watford
netminder.

through the third Stevenson netted his
sixth point of the game by scoring from the
face-off.
The ninth and final goal of this opening
game came from Brad Rhody with an
assist to Dennis Park_
Thesecond game of the tourney saw
Thamesford suit up against the powerful
Lucknow boys. Less rough than the first
contest, Lucknow took this one 4 -1.
Chris Stevenson was up for this game as
well, netting the first two. Mike
Vandervelde drew one assist on the pair.
Brad Rhody scored the third of the game
unassisted before Dale Priestap finished it
off with a beauty from Justin Murray. ,
The championship game against Dor-
chester wasn't an easy one for Lucknow as
only a single goal seperated the two teams
when the final whistle blew. Chris Steven-
son turned in his usual fine performance
by opening the scoring. An assist was
given to Chris Humphrey
Dorchester stormed back with two goals
to keep Lucknow on their toes before War-
ren Andrews, Justin Murray and Dale
Priestap combined to tie the game-
Defenseman Dennis Park let one fly
from the blueline for the go-ahead goal but
Dorchester came back to tie it again and
the second period ended at three apiece.
Come the final period of play, it was
Brad Rhody putting Lucknow ahead with
an assist to Justin Murray. Chris Steven-
son put the icing on the cake at the 7:19
mark of the third with help from Dale
Priestap.
Dorchester came back in the last three
minutes of play to net one and keep it close
but the determination of Lucknow goalie
Adam Skillen kept Lucknow on top.
The Lucknow Bantam A team received
the championship trophy in the D Division
of the tourney and Adam Skillen was
awarded the trophy for the best goaltender
in the series. All team members received a
medallion for their efforts.

Bantam B team
The Lucknow Bantam B squad have had
a fairly successful beginning this year.
The team has won three of their first five
games with the two losses coming at the
bands of the Teeswater A team
Teeswater visited Lucknow last Satur-
day and took home a decisive win.
Lucknow goals came front the sticks of
Warren Andrews, unassisted, and Vince
Sticklend who turned a Colin Humphrey
break -away pass into Lucknow's second
goaL
The Bantam B team is looking good in
the early goingdand with a little hard work
could be a contender this year. Watch for
bigger and better things from this club in
the near future.

Team Standings: Country Roads Lodged,
Fisherman's • Cove -31, Adamson's-24,
Legion -23, Cut and Cur1-22, Co -op -10.
Co-op took two wins this week, Ray
Cranston had two finishes. Cut and curl
also had two wins with finishes from Irvin
Eedy and Paul Finlay. Three wins for
Adamson's came with two finishes from
Dean Ellis and one from George Whitby.
Fisherman's Cove took five wins this week
with two finishes from Anna Johnstone and
singles from Allan Stanley, Joan Liv-
ingston and Wolfgang Weber. The Legion
had three wins, two from Rick Conley and
one finish from Jim Cranston. Country
Raods Lodge had three wins, all finishes
from Ken Johnstone.
