Students eager for December to arrive

The Kindergartens have been talking
about bow animals prepare for winter and
molding aire of the animals at craft time_
We have some great counters in our
ream_ Hassell counted to 300 and Dan
counted to 200; Michael to 150 and Blue and
Wyatt combed to 100_
Andy Ritchie had his birthday on
Thursday.

Grade 1
We have been reading„ reading and
reading to IOUs. Bell, to a friend, to other
elaosos ' We are beginning to write hard
words The puppet production °Moose
Tales" is coming to our school in
December so our room is now the -Mouse
Hole", with stones, poems, and research
centres about mice_
Grade! -3
The Grade 2-3 class have been busy mak-
posters for the LaCknOW Business
Association. The theme is "What
Christmas means to me- We are starting
a new unit on Bnice County, It sure is an
important place to live.
We had fan studying Roman Numerals
and tried to add them.
Grade 2
In Mathematics we are really taking
shape. We are learning about flat and solid
figures in Geometry.
Happy Birthday to Amy Blake, who
turned seven on Nov. 21st.
Ronnie Van Meeteren and Jillie Cleland
were excited about the class choosing their
art to go to the Business Association to be
used for decoration. This got us in the
mood for Christmas which is only a few
weeks away_
Grade 3-4
In Grade 3 and 4 we realized that winter
is really coming soon_ Not only did it snow
a little this week but we wrote about and
dismissed and also created illusions of
snow. We would like to share some of our
pattern poems entitled "December.
DECEMBER
I'm waiting for December to cone,
For lights to glimmer,
For candles to flare,
For trees to shimmer,
For toys to share

Jr. Farmers
The West Huron Junior Farmers held
their annual Banquet and Dance Saturday,
November 12 at the Lucknow Community
Centre. 'Approximately ltot guests were
served.
The guest speaker for the evening was
Carl Hiebert a parapalegic as of the result
of an accident. With great cow:age. Carl
flevracross Canada in an Ultra Light air-
craft From Newfoundland to B.C. he land-
ed in Vaneouver just in time to make
Expo.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the message
he had to bring. He talk. was indeed
inspirational.
Various awards, both serioust and
humorous, were presented Wrought the
evening.
Some of the upcoming events of the
Junior Farmers include the meeting of the
old and new executive at the home of
Audrey Ritchie on December 13. The
Seaforth Banquet and Dance will be held
on December 3 and the group will par-
ticipate in the Lucknow Christmas Parade
that same day. On December 11, the group
will participate in the Winter Games
registration in Virmgham.
Sing Swing is being held in Cornwall on
November 26 and the West Huron -limier
Fanners have high hopes of bringing
home a nuaber of medals..
The group is donation 130 to Family and
Children's Services for Christmas this
year.
The next meeting of the organidation will
be held at Brookside School on December
19 starting at 8 p.m. Anyone aged 15 to 29 is
welcomed to attend and participate.

Grade 4
We are wetting on a Bass play.. It's call-
ed the Reindeer's Dilemma.
This week Kim was the star of the week.
She brought in seine toys. We did some
sentences and pictures ef alliteration.
Grade 5
Our federal election results still have
John Turner in the lead with Ed Broadbent
ramning a close second_ Brian Mulroney is
running a distant third_
The Leaf game against the Penguins on
the 16th saw 14 of as predict a loss, while 10
predicted a win_ Farther to this„ 20 of us
think the Leafs need a coaching change
while 4 are satisfied with John Brophy_
We are working diligently on keeping the
noise under control in the portable.
Grade 6
This week, Grade Six has been learning
about the moon and it's phases. Also we
are having a math test on Friday. We have
been doing math on the Icons, and hope to
learn the 1 painC' program
In science we have been experimenting
with popcorn. Some of the groups were
dry, wet, wet -frozen, and frozen_ It has
been a very educational week.
Grade 7
In grade 7 this week we are working with
prefixes and suffixes. Our new language
topic is short stories and we have been see-
ing many films to go along with this topic_
We have a new seating plan to decrease
our talking habilis.
o Grade
Orw class is in the process of creating,
writing, and eventually perfuming our
own original play_ The class has been
divided into 4 writing teams. Each is
responsible for one act of the play. This
group effort will be perfanmed as a part of
our Christmas Concert which will be held
on Dec. Itth at our schooL Hope to see you
there!
Library
The hbrary is hosting the annual book
fair on December 2nd. A variety of books
are available for sale during the RD_ day.
