Horticultural Society
On Tuesday, November 8 the Lucknow
and District Hortcultural Society held
their Annual Meeting and Banquet in the
Lucknow Legion Hall. The meeting opened
with 0 Canada and Rev. William Hender-
son said the Grace.
The Trinity U.C.W. served a delicious
beef dinner to almost 150 people. Mrs.
Lloyd MacDougall thanked the ladies for
once again catering to the society banquet.
Mrs. Spence Irwin was the winner of the
door prize, a lovely plant donated by
Valley Green Flowers.
Lavonne Ballagh from Wingham was the
guest entertainer as Miss Petunia, with a
humorous recitation "The Night Before
the Flower Show", and a song "I'm a Little
Petunia in an Onion Patch". Mrs. Ira
Dickie thanked and presented her with a
small gift. Mrs. Eldon Bradley gave the
annual report for the society. Evelyn
Henderson presented the treasurer's
Evans - Duiker
Renee Ina Duiker, daughter of Hank and
Jackie Duiker of Holyrood and Donald
Lewis Evans, son of Bob and Ruth Evans
of Collingwood, were united in marriage at
the Lucknow Christian Reformed Church,
by Pastor Tom Baird on August 27, 1988.
Maid of honor was Karen Eckenswiller, a
friend of the bride. Bridesmaid was Jeann-
tre Winterburn, sister of the bride.
Bestman was Evan Evan, '..rather of the
groom. Ushers were Fred Winterburn, and
Peter Wilde, friends of the groom 'and
Richard Duiker. brother of the bride.
Elmer Umbach • was organist with Cathy
Kudla, cousin of the groom, as soloist. The
reception was held'at the Lucknow and
District Community Centre. Following a
honeymoon to the East Coast, the
newlyweds 'are residing at R. 1, Tiverton.

report.
The following awards were presented by
Joan Robinson - Mrs. George Whitby - the
Grand Champion Rose winning the Red
Rose Tea Trophy; Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall
- Beatty Ladder for the highest number of
points in the flower show; Mrs. Jack
Needham won the Grand Champion Floral
Design and Del Burkhart had the Grand
Champion Glad.
Joan Robinson installed the Executive
and Directors for 1989 and Margaret
Burkhart thanked the outgoing officers.
The winner of the lucky chair, which was a
lovely plant, was won by Jack Needham;
the corsage for being the oldest lady pre-
sent was won by Jean Hughes.
Del Burkhart introduced the guest
speaker, Clarke Birchard from Chesley,
who spoke on "Myths and Magic of the
Forest". Reverend Albert Cook thanked
the speaker and presented him with a gift.
The meeting closed with The Queen with
Mrs. Edith Webster being the pianist.
OBITUARY
Norman James Kerr
Norman Kerr of 552 Glen Manor Blvd,
Waterloo died at K -W Hospital, November
8, 1988 in his 78th year.
Mr. Kerr was a member of the First
United Church, Waterloo and farming in
Mornington township until 1969.
He is survived by his wife Ellen ( nee
Cranston ), his children, Ruth Ann and her
husband Murray Krajaefski of Waterloo;
Joyce and her husband Fred Shannon of
Whitby; Nancy and her husband John
Kucharski of Russell, Ontario; sister, Mrs.
Margaret Sproat of Shelburne.
He is lovingly remembered by seven
grandhcildren.
Mr. Hill was predeceased by his
parents: one brother, Elwood and two
sisters. Ethel ) Mrs. Clarence Stickney )
and Mary ( Mrs. John Turnbull 1.
Friends called at the Ratz-Bechtel
Funeral Home in Kitchener from where
the funeral service on held on November 11.
Interment Milverton cemetery.
