Some of us even I prizes for our spooky costumes. On vV ednesday we made Acorn People. We en- joyed reading and acting out the story at_.uut the Three Billy Goats Gruff. Kindergarten 2 Mrs. Young's Kindergarten Class II would welcome Sarah Bissett to their class. -mv we have three Sarahs in ("ir room! Grade 1, Room 1 Miss Jewitt's Grade 1 class is just finishing a spooky Monster theme. They have been making lots of big books, murals, and paintings about scary creatures. They are also having lots of fun learning to add in math. Grade 1, Room 5 Miss Mathers' Grade Ones had a fun time on Nov. 2 when Mrs. Graham came to our room. We made beautiful pictures by fingerpainting. In math, we are learning how to add and are counting by 2's. Room 4 The Room 4 Wonder Tree is coming out of the castle keep to have a look at the homes and villages around the castle this week. Our castle journey will conclude on November 10 with a grand and glorious Mr. and Mrs. Tom McDonald visited on Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Clare Bushell at Kingarf. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wall of Wingham, visited on Sunday evening with Mr. Arthur Haldenby. Mrs. Leo Murray, Mrs. Alex Percy, Mrs. Delbert Hedley and Mrs, Don Bushell were at Mrs. Frank Maulden's on Friday, plann- ing the Holyrood Women's Institute bazaar and tea. Mr. Edbert Bushell visited. with Mr. and Mrs. Tom McDonald. Pastor and Mrs. Marvin Christensen, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Breckles were dinner guests on Thursday with Mrs. Lulu Stanley in Lucknow. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Reg Powell (nee Thelma Cottrell) on their re- cent marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Boyle of Ripley visited on Sunday with Edna and May Boyle. Congratulations to Sherri and Ross Meyerscough on the arrival of their baby girl on Sunday, a sister for Simon and Earl. In our science centre we've been experimenting with Canadian logs to see how strong log houses are. They're pretty solid! Ricky Stewart is our "Special Me." The Witch Store The "Freaky Six and Farnell" made Brookside Room 6 into a Witch Store. We dressed as Hallowe'en characters and showed what things we had for sale. There were eyeballs, killer insdcts, lizard roast, snake burgers and frog eyes. There was a corpse in the store. Several classes visited in the morning. One bottle of bone cider was broken and one bottle of frobscottle blew up. It was both funny and bad. We had fun and would like to try it again. Grade 7, Room 10 In Mr. Liddle's room, Tanya MacInnis was pulling a measuring tape up, when all of a sudden she fell and broke the desk she was standing on. Thank goodness she was not hurt! Grade 7-8, Room 8 This week grade 7-8 have been starting research on famous inventors. The grade 8's have been doing research on en- dangered species. In spelling we are doing the people's names in our class. Lisa Cairncross was a page at Huron County Council on Nov. 3. She learned how the council was run. Kby May Boyle INLOUGH weekend here. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Walsh and, John visited at the same home. Holyrood Women's Institute The Holyrood Women's Institute marked their 85th anniversary with a fun day at the Holyrood Hall, Thursday last. Guest institutes were Teesewater, Lucknow, Kairshea, Whitechurch, Purple Grove, Silver Lake and Ripley, with about 60 in attendance. Mrs. Charles Murray was chairperson and opened the meeting and president Mrs. Harold Smith extended a welcome. Sing -a -longs were enjoyed throughout the day with Mrs. Agnes Farrier at the piano. Mrs. Doug McEwan introduced the guest, Colour Co-ordinator Vicki Morrison, who showed a film on colour and makeup with Charlene as her model. Jeff Bauer wants to be a doctor because he wants to make people better. Paddy Lion wants to be a fireman, because he wants to help people whose houses are on fire. Dillon Moore wants to be a mechanical engineer, because he wants to invent automatic machines. Jill Stadelmann wants to be a nurse so she can help people who are sick. Kelly McNee wants to be a hairdresser because she likes hair. Angelique Delbergue wants to be a nurse because she wants to be just like her mom. Bradley Hodges wants to be a comedian because he wants to make people laugh. Sarah Drennan wants to be a teacher because she likes school. Clue Our clue for the mystery country ,this week is that this country's favourite sport is baseball. Watch for clue No. 4 next week! demonstration was very interesting and Charlene looked quite "chipper". Mrs. Russell McGuire, Bruce South president, brought greetings from the district and also read a Remembrance Day poem. During the day, as a means of giving a break to the ladies, some light exercises were performed. Luncheon was served and table games enjoyed. Humorous readings Mrs. Lorraine MacPherson. Betty Smith introduced Donna Sue Err- ington, who demonstrated floral arranging and the making of bows, showing how the use of both makes a lovely table centre, which went to Lorretta Hodgins. Prize winners throughout the day were, Mabel Whitby, Lois Goodhue, Debbie Rhody, Ann Anderson, Marjorie Thomp- son, Anne McCosh, Charlene McEwan and Bessie Maulden. A trevelling box made a lot of fun and was won by Sadie McLeod.
